I decided about a year and a half ago ago that I wnated to teach, and a year ago, I decided that what I wnated to teach was music.
so, anybody here a music director? WHat kind of grades do you need to get into university for something like that? Do I REALLY need English 30-1 to get into university? gonk Should I join Choir? What sort of courses did you take in University to become a band teacher?
I need insights on these things!

In college you would be a music education major. There are core academics, all of the normal English-Math-Science things, and any other requirements your college might have. For example, St.-Anything will probably have religion/philosophy requirements. I recommend you get good grades in English, and, of course, in any music classes you're taking. Taking chorus wouldn't hurt.
In college, if you want to be a band director, you have to take band, of course. You not only have to take your music classes, and your core academics, but also courses in teaching (ed classes). You can teach in a public school K-12 level with a Bachelors degree (4 years, if you're diligent).
You can reduce the cost of college by taking your core academics, and some of the more basic courses at a junior college. Always make sure before you sign up for a course that the credits will be transferable to an accredited four-year university offering the degree in music ed.
