So! Two years of uncomfortable sex later, I decided that I needed to press to see what was wrong. I learned that yes, sometimes vaginas do vary in size (though not as much as the p***s) and that yes, having sex without proper lubricant or arousal could lead to pain during sex. But that wasn't my problem.

After finally seeing a competent gyno, it was said that I very likely have a milder case of vaginismus.

My appointment will soon be booked, to see what can be done and if, indeed, it's what I have (as there is nothing else physically wrong with me).

I was wondering if anyone else here has had it? What helped you get through it?

Mine is not so severe that any kind of insertion is painful; rather, anything that is the size of a p***s is. It doesn't seem to matter how unafraid or relaxed or aroused I get; it is ALWAYS painful in the beginning, and it only dulls to an annoying discomfort. It always feels like I stay far too tight, and -stretching- down there hurts.

What techniques or treatments have you heard of that helped? Did any of you successfully cure it, and are capable of having pain free sex?

I'm trying to "fix" myself before my husband comes home from his tour, so please, any advice would be great!

Do you mean vaginismus? I've heard of it. I don't have any experience with it. Sucks that it took two years for you to be properly diagnosed. I really hope it gets better.

Thank you.

It's gotten better than the first time I had sex, thankfully, which was excruciating. I read that it's best described as the blink reflex. When an object nears the eye, it blinks reflexively to protect it from impending pain, or whatever. So that's kind of what happens in this case, with the v****a, and it varies in severity.

Mine is not so bad that fingers or tampons (though, never used a tampon before) can't get through, but like I said. : ( Anything p***s-sized causes enough discomfort to take away any pain. It is almost always uncomfortable, and I hope they set me up with good treatment.

His first thought was, "After a woman gives birth, it can get better," which I will NOT be doing for a long time, if ever. XD

I have never had it myself, but I do know the success rate for treatment is said to be very high. Treatment generally involves relaxation techniques, education, and plastic vaginal inserts.

Alright! I had my appointment and learned a lot.

Apparently, vaginismus and its cause is very difficult to pinpoint, as a variety of things can make it happen. It turns out that I have a tender point, which was continuesly aggravated during sex, that has caused my reaction, and triggered my "clenching" response. In fact, I haven't had sex in almost two months, and I'm -still- tender there.

In the v****a, there's this ridge where the hymen is, and sometimes, the skin there can be thin. Usually, after the hymen is torn, it heals, is thick, and can take things like sex and other insertion. For whatever reason, mine isn't thick, which makes it feel like I'm tearing something, stretching in a way that I shouldn't, and an overall tender sensation. It was very interesting to discover this, and refreshing, and I've been perscribed this estrogen cream that will thicken the area and, hopefully, make it so that I don't hurt, and if it no longer hurts, I won't keep believing it will, and will stop involuntarily tensing up because of it.

WHEW! So glad to finally know what's up!

My mum has that. Hers isn't very bad, but it hurts when it is inserted, but after that she is okay.

Glad that things are sorted out. Hope the cream works for ya *crosses fingers*
and I'm sure that once you're not hurting you'll be able to relax, just try and stay relaxed when you and your honey go at it. You might want to tell him about it. Maybe not all the details, but a tid bit on being sore and such. I'm sure he could help you relax so you both can enjoy it. Good luck!

I have had vaginismus for a while due to a very rigid hymen and a small opening. Penetration was WAAAY too painful. Last week I got a hymenectomy, and I'm hoping to recover to try it out. I will keep you guys posted smile
