Dir en grey
After Dir en grey visited Germany for the first time, got to be asked what impressions the band had looking back. Similiar to our first interview, the japanese artists showed to be rather silent conversational partners. Nonetheless every band member has his own unique charme, which sometimes needed to be understood, though.Orkus: How did you feel about your first visit in Germany? What did you enjoy most?
Toshiya: I enyoed the rural environment better than the big cities.
Die: The sausages and the bear were delicious.
Shinya: I was suffering from a toothache, so I could not really enjoy much. Maybe next time.
(Aww .. poor shinya ! ... I am a Dental Assistant to be Hygienist .. I can clean your teeth and prevent that toothache from coming again ... wouldn't that be nice ? 3nodding )Orkus: How did you feel about the contact with the german music press? What experiences did you make?
Dir en grey: We are sorry, that we did not talk much. We were a bit nervous. There also was a really crazy interviewer. But it was fun.
(note by Zera: I think they refer to the interviewer of the music magazine “Legacy”. He wrote an article that really showed he had no clue who was sitting in front of him, and went to the concert and to the interview in a Mana (Moi dix Mois) Cosplay. He definitly was strange.)
Orkus: Like Die just said, you had the opportunity to try out german cooking. What kind of dishes did you try and did you like them?
Die: I liked the meat! And the mashed potatoes!
Toshiya: The side dishes were very tasty and went with the meat very well.
Shinya: It just was very much meat.
Orkus: Looking back, what do you think of the concert in Berlin? Your fans really enjoyed it – in spite of the great heat inside the Columbia Hall.
Dir en grey: It was great! The fans too. For the great heat, there was noting one could do to change it.
Orkus: To go into details of the temperature again: What do you think, how many litres liquid did you all together drink on that evening?
Shinya: We drank round about 100 litres. (Laughter)
(Drinking is good .. getting drunk is better !!! ... who knos wut u do ? ... but we as fans ... wish we were WITH you guys while you were drunk ... who knos wut attention we would've gotten?! wink )Orkus: Of course we hope you will be back in Germany soon. Can you already say something about that?
Dir en grey: We definitly want to come back – and also play at different locations in Germany. But there are no dates yet.
Orkus: What are you doing next? Are any stage appearances planned?
Dir en grey: This year we are playing on tours in different regions in Japan. After that there is nothing planned yet.
Orkus: Is there something, in general, you hate most?
Kaoru: The taxes.
(Everyone HATES taxes !!! sad )Shinya: Snakes and all other reptiles.
(Me too ! Don't know why ... they scare me? confused )Die: Frogs and doves.
Toshiya: The hysteria of the women.
(That would be us ! rofl )Orkus: We are living in year 2005. If you try to think back – what were your expectations in the 90ties for the near new millenium?
Dir en grey: We thought that the towns would look like in the movie “Back to the future”, but that did not happen.
Orkus: And which expectations did happen?
Dir en grey: None.
Orkus: What do you think will be different in 2020 on this planet?
Toshiya: Surely the taxes will be even higher.
(You bet !)Shinya: The global warming will be worse.
(Uhuh ... is it getting hot in here? Or is it just me? confused )Orkus: In your oppinion, can books change the world or also individuals?
Toshiya: Letters are an unknown factor.
Orkus: Which book impressed or influenced you the most?
Dir en grey: We already discussed that. We are indeed impressed by books, but they did not have an influence on us.
Orkus: And which are your three favourite movies?
Kaoru: Leon the Professional, Oldboy, Fight without loyality.
Die: Ichi the Killer, Voyeur, Stop the b***h campaign.
Toshiya: Planet of the apes, Clockwork orange, Natural born killers.
Shinya: SAW, Cube, Kindaichi-shonen no Jinkenbo.
(note by Zera: They said the german titels of the movies, and I don’t know most of the movies so I also dont know the english titels. I’m sorry for that.)
Orkus:What is your oppinion, can movies be more striking and influential than books?
Toshiya: The original books are sometimes very much cooler than the movies.
(I agree ... I read Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden ... movie out on Dec.9th,2005 .. will it be good ? I hope so .... u never kno ... neutral sweatdrop )Orkus: What are you doing with your free time, when you are for one or two days not occupied with the band?
Toshiya: Drinking, eating and sleeping.
(Tsk tsk ... lol rofl )Kaoru: I spend my time just at home.
Die: Watching TV.
Shinya: I go to the dentist.
(Good !!! Come to ME for a cleaning! wink whee )
Orkus: How much do you still posess your childhood? How does this show?
Kaoru: When I am having fun, I am childish.
Toshiya: Most guys are more childish than gals.
Shinya: Yes.
(LoL .. rofl )
Orkus: What is the sence of life in your oppinion?
Dir en grey: Think of that for yourself.)
( eek ) note by zera: i appologize for my bad english, i think i made some grammar mistakes, but i cant do it better, gomen. other than that i do have the "Legacy" article, if someone wants that one i can translate it too, but i think that article is so bad its not worth ebing translated *shakes head*
over the interview were some pictures, which were also in the "Arena" of October and belong to the clever sleazoid photoshoot. if you want those too i will try to get my scanner to work again and scan them, but only if they are wanted.
thats it so far, enjoy, Zera
