~ Medicine Cat’s Den ~The WindClan medicine cats den is located near the heart of the camp in a well dug out burrow with a soft sandy floor. There are three nests toward the back of the burrow formed of soft most where the trio of the clan’s med cats go to rest. Along the sides of the den can be seen assorted and neatly kept bundles of leaves, flowers, cobwebs, and many other things that the three would need to tend to the various aches, pains, and illnesses that may come up in their clan mates or whoever may need them. ~ News ~
Here is where any news will be posted involving treatments, recent visits, births, deaths, etc. that may come through the den.
Current Season: Leafbare It's cold. The winds are rougher than usual, most cats stay in camp if they can. Fewer border patrols are going out as hunting patrols are being increased to catch the few scrawny rabbits still on the moors. No sickness yet though. Perhaps hunger will be the only problem this season.

.: Autumnbreath’s Journal :.
Autumnbreath is a kind, compassionate she-cat who enjoys tending to the hurts of others, be it physically or emotionally. When she is taking care of someone, she does everything she can to make them better. She's got a bit of a feisty streak when things get tough, as she isn't afraid to hold back if there is a job to get done. She is observant, polite (most of the time), loyal to her clanmates, devoted to those closest to her, and empathic towards others. She generally puts up a tough front, but deep down in her heart of hearts, she's quite sensitive. Cutting remarks or insults make her upset, but not outwardly so. She'll wait until she is sure that she is alone to sulk. If something really upsets her Autumnbreath would seek out the comfort of a friend or a trusted confidant. She is never down for very long though. She is doesn't let something bother her for long. There is always something better to do than feel sorry for oneself. Autumnbreath's regualr speaking voice isn't very loud and she hardly ever yells. Autumnbreath has a bit of a habit of thinking outloud.Former names: Autumnkit, Autumnpaw Mentor: Barkface Apprentices: Spottedshadow Family: ---Mother: Lightstep ---Father: FleetingAsh ---Siblings: Oakhollow, Moonsong Obtained: WindClan Event - Medicine Cat RP Contest Autumnbreath: *is doing a little of this and a little of that* Prompt Response It was happening again. The dreams had returned to plague her sleep. It didn't make much sense to Autumnbreath. The other clans had sent out patrols to find them and bring them home. They had been found and they were finally going home. She knew everyone was relieved. She was too, but the continuing presence of those haunting dreams worried her during her waking hours. What could it mean? She was normally quite skilled in interpreting dreams, but this one just left her feeling cold, shakey, and a bit jumpy.
There she was again, in the now familiar expanse of dank darkness. Autumnbreath moved through the dark, her tail twitching anxiously behind her and her fur fluffed up from the cold. She knew what to expect by now. The point of distant light came into view. The light was followed shortly by a feeling of dread that clamped down around her like a dog or badger's jaws. The distorted yowls of terror began, causing her to jump and her fur along her back and tail to stand on end. No matter how hard she tried to focus, she never could pick out any one voice. It was just a jumble of voices all crying out, rending her heart at the sound of their fear.
Autumnbreath woke with a start, her heart pounding in her chest. She gave an involuntary shiver. The rust and smoke colored she-cat uncurled herself where she had laid down to nap. She stepped out into the sunlight, blinking her honey gold eyes at the brightness. Its warmth helped soothe the feeling of unease that had built up in her chest. A friendly greeting was shouted her way. She turned and saw her friend, Emberstep, a male warrior whom she had been friends with she they were both quite young, who was walking back to where ever after a visit to the freshkill pile, as was obvious by the bit of blood that stained his whiskers. She gave a laugh. "You might want to give yourself a good cleaning. You look like a mess." He seemed to be one of only a handful of cats that didn't blame her for them fleeing and getting lost. The rest either glared angrily her way or ignored her or did little things to make her feel horrible.
Emberstep paused in his walking and looked at his nose, looking a little cross eyed before shifting his blue eyed gaze her way. He chuckled. "I suppose I do. Care to help a guy out?" he teased playfully.
The medicine cat simply rolled her eyes and shook her head, a grin slowly forming on her features. "Now, why would I want to do that?" He stuck his tongue out at her before taking to grooming his face, quietly laughing to himself. "I'm a bit peckish right now. Who knows? Maybe I'll show you how to clean up properly a bit later, hm? But seriously now, do you think you and I could talk a little later? I've got a few things on my mind that are really bothering me."
Emberstep lowered his paw from his mouth. "Oh, sure, Autumnbreath. Any time." He had finished his grooming and he turned to continue off on a patrol, Autumnbreath guessed.
She turned and continued off towards the freshkill pile. There were a few warriors gathered around, talking, eating, relaxing. When she drew near, they stopped and simply stared at her coolly. She simply stared right back at them and went to grab a piece of a medium sized rabbit. A paw reached out and drug the rabbit away from her. Autumnbreath straightened her stance and gave the cat who pulled her rabbit away a good hard look, but under the surface she felt a tiny choke of frustration and sadness at being treated the way she was. She simply sniffed aggrivatedly at them then turned away.
On her way back to her den to check on her stored herbs, she let her thoughts drift to the subject of her dreams. "I ought to tell the Leaders. They have to know what I keep seeing," she whispered to herself. She nodded and moved off to find one of the leaders. Autumnbreath spotted one of the warriors she knew had forgiven her, or at least didn't mind the slip up too terribly. "Excuse me, but do you happen to know where one or both of the leaders are? I'd like to speak with them." She was pointed towards a sunny patch where a few of the older warriors of the clan were relaxing in the warming light.
Autumnbreath could see one of the leaders over there, conversing with them and keeping an eye on everyone. She took a deep breath and trotted over to him. "May I have a quick word with you. I think its important." He nodded and they walked a few paces away from the elders. "I've been having that dark dream again. The one with the cold and the terror-filled cries. I'm not sure of what to make of it yet, but I am trying to figure it out."
The leader tom nodded. "I see. Well, if anything else comes to light, you'll be sure to come tell me, won't you? I still have faith in your abilities, Autumnbreath. I see the way some of the others are treating you around camp. Don't let them get you down. You are a skilled healer and an important link between us and StarClan. Never forget that, alright?"
The medicine cat nodded. "Alright, I will...Thank you." There was a moment of quiet before all hell broke loose. Cats racing around, serveral horror-filled cries. The leader at her side took off to find the source of the commotion. She moved to follow, but a large warrior, racing there also, knocked into her hard sending her to the ground. She blinked her eyes and shook her head. Her vision had gone dark, a sole spot of light slowly grew as her vision cleared. The yowls continued and she could hear other running around. An icy grip of fear settled into her chest.
A terrible thought hit her. "Oh, StarClan...it's like my dream..." Her vision finally cleared and she raced off towards the group of gathering warriors someways out of camp. A rather panicked apprentice stumbled past her, causing her to slow and ask after the poor shaking she-cat. She got a vague response.
"Hunting...rabbit ran...pair of...Emberstep...Oh, StarClan."
Autumnbreath knew she'd have to check on her soon. She pressed on through the crowd, urged forward by the echoing scared voice of the apprentice. "Emberstep." She broke through the circle and both leaders were sitting between her and a limp form. "Oh no," she whispered. She could tell by the fur. It was indeed Emberstep.
One of the deputies had been around when it happened and he trotted straight for her. "Emberstep and one of the apprentices, Ashpaw, were out hunting a rabbit. She had chased it ahead. There were a pair of dogs that was trailing the rabbit. They saw Ashpaw and started to go after her. Emberstep stopped them, but not before recieving some wounds that were too much for him. I came to help as fast as my paws could carry me, but...the second dog...well." The deputy paused and looked down at his paws. "I finished chasing them off, but I wasn't fast enough. I'm sorry, Autumnbreath, but Emberstep didn't make it."
She felt overwhelmed. Her best friend since their nursery days was gone. She gave the most sorrowful yowl than she could manage and moved to touch her nose to Emberstep's pelt. There was blood on him, but this time it wasn't from a rabbit. It was his. She nosed him and groomed his face. "You're such a mess," she whispered almost silently, her voice cracking in her grief. She gave a short laugh, mostly to try to relieve the stress that crashed down upon her shoulders. "Rest well, Emberstep. May StarClan embrace you wholly. You'll remain in my memory and my heart until the day I go to join you among the ranks of StarClan." She sat up and looked to the leaders, sadness evident in her eyes. "I'll go tend to Ashpaw. Please, make sure he's taken very good care of."
It was a simple request from a grieving friend. She couldn't linger there, for Ashpaw needed her now. She was in need a few poppy seeds to help calm the poor panicked apprentice. She knew there were some in her den. All she had to do was go find her and bring her to her den.
Autumnbreath soon found the apprentice and had her stay in the medicine cat den, at least for one night. That night she lay curled up, Ashpaw sleeping soundly at her side. The rust and smoke medicine cat soon began to dream. It started out in the dark, but this time lacked the feeling of fear. The pitch blackness melted into an open field covered in long grasses and the many warriors of StarClan shimmered over head. There gave a rustling in the grass, soft as if carried by the breeze. A star coated Emberstep sat down in front of her in the grass. "Autumnbreath, don't mourn for me. It was my time to go. Don't be saddened by death. When the time comes, you will be able to walk among your loved ones again. I'll be keeping a watch over you. You know I've always kept an eye on you, so why stop now?" He gave a laugh. Autumnbreath echoed with a soft laugh of her own. He was still teasing her. "Take care of yourself, Autumnbreath. I've got an eye on you." He gave her a little wink and rose to join the multitude of glimmering warriors in the blue black sky.
For those who were awake and close enough to see, a small smile spread across Autumnbreath's lips and a look of peace settled onto her features.

.: Barkface’s Journal :. Barkface is a gregarious soul with a fond reputation as an insatiable gossip, never content unless he knows everything that is going on in WindClan (and whatever he can glean of the other clans' business without prying, besides). But those who confide in him can rest content that their secrets will reach no other ears, and in times of crisis he remains level-headed, a reassuring facet of Clan life. He is the oldest of the medicine cats - in fact, some of those who were apprentices with Barkface have already joined the elders - though he steadfastly refuses to admit any corresponding weakness.
Older cats will remember him as a rascally apprentice who spent much of his training time at the beck and call of the elders as punishment for one mischief or another. The clan despaired of ever making him into a proper warrior; tell anyone then that he would grow up to speak with StarClan, and they would have laughed in your face. But the medicine cat at the time, Beechwind, apparently saw something in him that even Barkface couldn't see, and offered to take him on as apprentice. A last stubborn spark of rebellion against everyone's low expectations prompted the young cat to accept, though privately he figured Beechwind had made a mistake.
The rest is history.
Because of his own past, the short-tailed tom has always nurtured a soft spot for those struggling to find their place within the Clan - whether or not this conflicts with his duties as a medicine cat, as some say.
Mentor: Beechwind (with StarClan) Apprentices: Autumnbreath Family: Unknown Obtained: WindClan Event - summoning Orchidglare contest
