[A New Idea] [Mrs. Pineapple contemplates on adopting a child from the lab]
---
The small leaflet was making a soft noise as it was neatly placed in front of the robot's sensors. Old hands were retreated and pressed tightly against each other. "What do you think, Alan?" Mrs. Pineapple, who was seated in her favourite armchair in her office, asked.
The robot's eyes scanned the pages quickly. "It is an adoption agency, Madame. If you have the desire to adopt a child this place looks like a good solution."
Pineapple hadn't expected a different answer and she smirked. It was always a pleasure to talk to the robot, because he gave her the feeling that she had a partner in crime, somebody to talk to although the decisions were still all up to her. "One day I will need a successor." She smiled and turned the chair so that she could look out of the window and face the dim afternoon light. "And since there's never been the will inside of me to reproduce, I will have to rely on a stranger of some sort...of course, only genetically. I would treat the child just as if it were my own."
It was an easy thing to say taking into account that she didn't know how she would treat her own children. She only knew how to take care of herself, but still there was the tiny wish inside of her to learn how to be a mother of some sort. Even if it was only for scientific purposes to satisfy her curiousity.
"It looks like a very interesting agency. High scientific standards and mystery alike...I would like you to make an appointment for tomorrow afternoon."
"Of course, Madame."

[I am what I am] [A cabbage is brought to Pineapple Mansion]
---
"Marvelous." Mrs. Pineapple smacked her lips as she placed the green vegetable on the sunny side of her office's desk. One single moment it felt ridiculous to place a cabbage on a soft red pillow in the warm evening sunlight, but within the next second it felt quite right.
The adoption process had been very satisfying. She had been given all necessary information about the little thing in front of her. Of course it was much more than a normal cabbage, it was a highly complex technical item and those usually made her feel most comfortable.
Although the house she was living in was huge she had never had steady contact with one of its residents besides Alan, the housekeeper robot. Now this matter would change and Mrs. Pineapple knew that such a busy woman needed somebody to assist her in the matter of raising a child.
"Light and water shall serve you for now." The elderly woman told the cabbage in front of her and used the spray bottle which was standing next to it. Unfortunately the lab assistant hadn't been able to inform her about the future baby's gender or even looks. For a moment she had wondered if she should choose one of the already "existing" children in the adoption center, but something inside her intelligent mind had stopped her from retreating.
She had to experience its mechanical, technical birth to be its mother. Pineapple watched rays of sunlight break through the watery shower which was slowly raining down on the cabbage. "We need to get you a baby sitter and a room...that's for sure, no matter what might become of you."

[New Caretaker] [A new babysitter is found at the employment agency]
---
She could have sent Alan to find somebody suitable. The robot was very well capable to recognise somebody's abilities, offer the right amount of payment and take care of all registration matters. Still, Madame Pineapple had decided that she would spend this morning looking for a baby sitter on her own.
Her housekeeper had taken her to the employment agency where already a bunch of people was hanging out looking for a job or a least a piece of paper which guaranteed them some money. Mrs. P. was wearing one of her proper Grandmother outfits which made everyone believe she was an old but still were respectable lady.
She had chosen the morning because she believed that all the lazy people wouldn't be here that early. Somebody with that attitude wasn't even worth to be considered.
Looking around she spotted a few people smiling at her, some of them seemed to be pretty much in need. She pulled out her purse and gave them a few coins. Not one of those, the lady thought and left with the perfect imitation of a smile to head towards the counter.
On her way she heard a child cry. She turned around to face the noise and saw a small boy lying on the floor. He had been playing with others and it looked like he had fallen and hurt his knee. A teenage girl moved up to him, kneeled down and looked at his small injury.
The boy stopped crying and looked at the stranger. She had to be talking to him, because after a while he smiled slightly and she helped him to get back on his feet. Quickly he dashed off. The girl looked a bit ordinary, but her hair was well-combed and she appeared to be clean. Her eyes were of an interesting golden tone.
"Are you looking for a job?"
Mrs. Pineapple asked the girl who winced as if somebody had seen her do something forbidden.
"Yes, I am."
Her voice was gentle, a bit too hushed for Pineapple's likings.
"My name is Mrs. Pineapple. I am looking for a baby sitter for my child. We're paying very well."
The teenager stared at her for a moment before she nervously brushed some hair out of her face and smiled slightly.
"Thank you, Mrs. I feel very proud that you ask me, but I sadly don't have any...qualifications...My name is Tyyne".
Pineapple sighed. "I saw you with that boy. Looks like you have a way with children."
"I had quite a few siblings...".
Tyyne almost whispered and looked at her shoes.
"If you are up for it, Tyyne, I would like to invite you to our mansion for a trial day. What do you think?"
The girl looked up again and nodded.
"I would definitely like to come."
