The thing that made me want to pick up a guitar was Randy Rhoads' Solo in Mr. Crowley. I heard that and the next day I withdrew all the money I had saved for over ten years, went to the guitar shop and bought a squire strat.
I think that any guitar part you hear influences you in some way. whether it be becasue you like it or you don't.

I'm influenced by all of the post rock I listen to. It's fun to build slowly and create an idea without words. Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed you Black Emporer are some of my biggest influences.

To me it was James hetfield of metallica, then from there Kirk, Slash, Angus Young, Dimebag, Mike Ness, and Mustaine, those are my major influences, their music makes me wanna play, and hope to play like them.

My first unfluences were and are still my step-dad and cousin Andrew. Then came Hetfield and Hammet, and now it's Mustaine, Satriani, Vai, Dimebag, Iommi, and Dan Donegon.

I'm not sure what got me into it, but influence wise, i wish i could afford to have a set up like tom morello's. I love Morello he is a genius in more than one way. Also Zacky Vengence from avenged sevenfold rights really sinister riffs. Daron Malakian too. Johnny Cash, Tim armstrong.
I'm sure i'll get flamed for this.

The man who got me into guitar was Larry LaLonde. Favorite guitarist.
My influences now are as follows: Monkey Jacket's guitar, Larry LaLaonde, Kerry King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Angus Young, and Aaron Barret. Genre wise I've been influenced into blues, metal, and ska. Though in any musical outting I am ska, and punk/metal. I find Ska guitar to be very enthralling style of playing(I'm becoming a ska kid, it's weird.) and Blues is the most genius thing I've found, and can be molded into almost every other genre. Even though it's not the most attractive thing sometimes.

Jimmy Page Jimi Hendrix Johnny Thunders Dean Ween James Williamson Richard Lloyd Ler LaLonde East Bay Ray Sonny Sharrock Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo Jim and William Reid Kevin Shields and Bilinda Butcher
I like players who have a great deal of expressiveness and unique tone, and I tend to disregard players who rely overmuch on technical stuff. Creativity is what it's all about.

Why would you get flamed for it? It's your opinion, and your influences, no one elses. 3nodding

I think it was when I was at a Carolina Panthers game and the song Welcome to the Jungle came on. My dad was like, "this is what it's all about, you should learn to play like Slash." I just got it in my head that that's what my dad wanted of me... then I started to teach myself and realized that playing guitar is probably the best thing I've ever done.
