READ THE POST FIRST!!!~~Are you TRULY proud to be a lolita?
Yes. I will share my love for all things Victorian and cutesy (whether sweet or gothic) with the rest of my fellow humans.
No. I want this to belong to me and a select few. I could not stand to see others sharing in the happiness that is lolita...
Don't care. I like lolita, but I really don't care one way or the other.

No. No I am not 'proud' to wear lolita clothes. They're clothes. I don't know what to be proud of there. I mean perhaps if I made them I'd be proud of having created something, or perhaps I could be pleased at making a nice co-ordinate or something but proud to be a lolita? Not so much no.

If it did enter the mainsteam perhaps there'd be more places selling it, so I could afford more of it. I wouldn't mind that. If people get it wrong well... good for them. I can still wear nice poofy lacy dresses all I like.

I am proud of what i am. but that doesn't entitle me to say that someone else can't wear it. I gerally look down upon hot toppic becouse they usually have poor quality and are too expensive for what they have. i shop at hot toppic (everynow and then) but manly to get band tee's like Dir En Grey and 12012. the only "lolita" item i have bought from them is a pair of whit platform heel shoes.
BUT i generally don't care about people.....actually i don't like people at all. I feel taht the human race is a waste of water and oxygen.
SO also feel that it is stupid to not know anything about the fashion its history and call yourself onw. I mean how many people know how Lolita was started?
I hate it when peopel say that they are a lolita and buy nothing BUT hot topic. i myself shop at places like Rue 21 and the deb. and then make the rest of my clothes.
people that wear nothing but hot topic pants, shirt, shoes, arm band, hair die, make up, and god knows what.
Ah ******** um.

I dont mind if everyone gets into the Lolita fashion.
I mean, styles dye right.
It will just be another trend.
But us real OG Loli's need to stay strong and not make them bother us.
It will pass, maybe not right away but it will.

I like people who do their homework. that work for the pivelege of the clothes they wear. they need to Deserve them.
i would hate for some punk kids, some c**t girls getting 1 Hot Topic dress and say they are a lolita. Lolita is an art of dressing, it's not a smack-it-on mass-produced bad quality Hot Topic trend.
sowwies.
It's like people who buy band tees of bands they don't really ever listen to, or just listened to 1 hit single. It's just sad. But you know why they do it? because those bands were popularized.
seeing that happen to lolita. pleh. I love Lolita, but there's a little spite in meh if i were to have to watch people that never accepted the fashion when it was underground, wearing it just because it is "trendy"

I love lolita..but I love it in it's original form, with the modesty and the elegance. The rules about skirt shape and length, and even though they frighten me sometimes, I love the elitists who defend lolita in it's truest form. I would hate to see it become some mainstream bastardization where anyone can throw on a little lace and claim to be lolita. It would make me feel awful to see that. Though a part of me would love to see everyone go lolita, I know people too well. If lolita were ever to go mainstream, it wouldn't be as it is, with the modesty element, it would be hacked to pieces and barely recognisable, and the real lolitas would be accused of doing it wrong. I would hate to see that happen.

As for Hot Topic..I'm Canadian, so I don't have regular access to Hot Topic, especially since I very rarely get to go south of the border. To be honest...I've only ever been in a Hot Topic once. Truthfully, I like the store. Not as a source for lolita, but for interesting pieces here and there, it's a good place. I've no feeling one way or the other about people who shop there. I wouldn't call that dress lolita, though. It doesn't have the right silhouette. Lolita inspired, certainly, but not lolita.

I think this thread is narrow minded, though. It's asking for opinions, but not in an open way. The way the poll and first few posts are set up, it's as if...if you defend that lolita shouldn't be mainstream and there should be rules as to what can be called 'lolita', you're automatically classed as an elitist snot who's narrow minded and unaccepting.

The elitists, though occasionally a little confrontational, are the ones really keeping lolita as it should be. There's nothing wrong with new lolita blood, or western lolita designers, so long as they keep lolita as what it's supposed to be. If they don't follow the guidelines of the fashion, and still claim the title of 'lolita' then they're giving a bad name and misrepresenting the real lolita culture, and those who adhere to it. That's what would happen if lolita were to go mainstream. A huge misrepresentation that would drag the hard work of real lolitas through the mud.

I'm not to sure really, I mean I would love to see other girls in my school wear loli however I wouldn't want them to wear it just because others are doing it. I would want most people to know about the lifestyle and the real meaning not them just wearing because the coolest girl in the school is wearing it. I wear it because I truly love it, others may not wear it for that reason. That would sadden me deeply but if they truly loved it like the many girls I've talked to I'd be so very happy! It would be like a meetup each day. ^=^ It would so fun to have tea parties with a whole bunch of lolitas that live close to me.
