special talent : "Premonition" , or a ten-second look into his or someone else's (usually) distant future. He can seemingly have a 'premonition' at any time and they can come one after another, though they rarely 'show' him anything of value.
He mostly 'uses' this talent whenever he goes somewhere or does something that he thinks may be either dangerous or of good value. In those instances his 'premonitions' can only 'see' events a few seconds before they occur.
* While I am aware that this talent could best be called 'predicting', it fits better into the type of person Luca is as well as his gypsy background to call it 'premonitions'
This ability spans from . . .
skill 1 : Fortune-telling
- tells 'fortunes' using normal playing cards and is quite good at it. he can foresee the future as in love and actions, as well as tell about current situations.
- is almost always 85% accurate in what he 'reads', though odds are he's getting really lucky at what people draw ( or he knows the nature of that person very well )
* because of his family's 'occupation' (read: gypsies) he started reading cards when he was around five or six, learning with his older sister
* he was not allowed to read for customers until he was ten, but he was allowed to read for family and friends
skill 2 : Extreme probability/ability to read the odds
- has an older brother in the military service who studied battle strategy, who in turn passed those lessons down
- is very observant
- likes to watch sports ( when he can ) and learned statistics through baseball and horse racing

For him to be able to do this, a person must draw three cards from a random deck and show them to Luca. He then in turn reads them and translates a message by incorporating their meaning.

Okay. The Jack represents you, a young man making their way, and since it's spade it indicates that you're really naive and immature about the going ons of the world.
The two of clubs means you're the type to think before you do, and combined with the jack it means that you have a tendency to over think things and not do them out of fear.
And the five of hearts....you're suffering over something. Your brother still maybe, or how all the guys here at the school seem gay?

background history :
Luca was born in a normal hospital in a small Italian village, his family have settled there shortly after the alien attacks wrecked havoc upon the world. Born several years after first contact and attack, Luca was not privy to the first hand horrors but the to aftereffects left on his people. His parents, once proud travelers who had walked nearly the whole continent, now were trapped in a single place that treated them like a plague upon the city.

roleplay sample : Marriage is In The Cards
"I...really don't like the reading you just did. Do it again, and this time don't lie about it to me."
Luca peered over the other side of the table at his younger sister, the little girl sitting with the cards in her hands and a puttering frown begging on her lips. Normally Lyuba didn't like to have her fortune read, at least not by her 'conniving older brother', but when the girl had come to him shortly after their morning meal and chores asking for a reading, he'd obliged her. It's not like he was busy doing anything else at the moment anyway, and reading someone's fortune that wasn't a pay customer from time to time helped him stay on top.
"There's no way you're telling the truth, because what I read is different all together. See, if you combine it this way, the two aces should mean all of us are going somewhere, not just me."
The cards spread back out on to the surface of the table

view on the alien attacks : Luca is under the belief that the aliens came to punish those who were impure and broke the traditions set down by their family laws. While he honestly knows this to not be the reason, it's easier for him to accept this and move on with his life.
He does seem to have a view that, despite the impure being punished, the aliens themselves are unholy creatures and therefore punishment must be returned to them in very proper course.
view on saving the world : If saving the world means that Luca and his family can live in peace without fear and start to travel again, then he would give anything for them to have their dreams.
As a family oriented child it's only natural that his first desire is selfish and geared towards the happiness of himself and his family, but he knows that if his family can travel it may mean other Roma may travel as well and no longer be stuck in nations that can and sometimes do oppress them.

view on gadje ( non-roma ) : Luca is very wary of those his family considers to be gadje based on his traditional upbringing, but he generally bares them no ill will after even their first encounter. Having been forced to live amongst the so called "outsiders" for most of his life, he's comfortable about their lifestyles, but not with the people that live said styles.
view on homosexuality : Luca has never met a homosexual, or if he has he doesn't know because they were not open about it. As such he has no opinions or views on the matter, and they will be formed should he encounter someone.
* These views were included because of conditions that Luca was raised in, as well as the nature of many of the relationships in the school
