Quote: Ugh, I am in desperate need of a copy. I have yet to read this great novel, but a fellow phantom enthusiast told me about it and I've been unable to track down a copy. I live in southern california, near Disneyland, but every where I go I need to have it shipped or ordered, and I don't have a credit card so that's difficult. Also, all of the local library copies have been stolen, and know of no secondhand shops to buy this at (I usually go to Borders and Barnes and Nobles). If anyone can help me out, provide me an ebook version, or maybe even lend me (yes, asking a lot of you) their copy, I'd be ever greatful. Provided money isn't an issue if I pay physically with cash, hopefully someone lives not too far away. I have a spare copy I'm getting rid of. (Yay for working at a used book store.) I don't live anywhere near you, but perhaps we could figure something out. Edit: If not, have you considered a money order? A lot of people on Ebay will take a money order as payment, and you don't need a credit card to get one.

Phanaridie The thing with Leroux's novel is that it's a great story with so much potential. But it wasn't written very well. Until, of course, it got closer to the end. Especially when the Persian was telling his side. I completely agree. I think it has a large amount of potential, but it's just not very good. A great story - but I had to force myself to finish it, because it was just so dull.

Success! Although finding an actual copy of Phantom would be better, I did manage to download a VERY rough copy of Phantom. Namely, there are no paragraph markings and 1/10,000 letters are mis-scanned, but they are minor inconveinences. The only difficulty is knowing who says what during the Phantom/Christine passages. Anyways, for EVERYONE'S CONVENIENCE I have graciously uploaded the text version online. Yay me! Now anyone wihtout a copy can read it while theirs comes in the mail. I'm personally waiting for the bookstore I started working at to have it, whihc should be in a month. Anyways, here's the link! http://h1.ripway.com/chocovash3/KaySusan-Phantom.doc ENJOY~!

My feelings for that book are mixed. :/
Kay's writing style is not complicated so it's easy to get interested in the stories. But for some reason, the way some of the minor characters act in the book annoy me. She made Christine look like a mindless idiot when her characterization was much different from Leroux (yes...I know she based part of it from the ALW play. Shush.). All in all, I thought most of it was good until the Erik and Christine part. It became more of a soap-opera after that. (Poor Raoul!)
