Kerrigan gave an understanding smile as he asked if she could read minds, giving a shake of her head as she drained the remains of the water from the bottle.

"No, I can't. And none taken," she said with a soft laugh at his pasty skin comment. For whatever reason, his comment brought a smile to her face, glad that she was able to maintain some sense of normality despite the constant abnormality of her life. Everything felt so different, and it was only recently that she started to come to terms with those differences. She had always been pale before, but now it was slightly exaggerated, just another one of those things that she no longer thought twice about when she went out in public. She knew her movements were eerily fluid and graceful, though she hardly saw it as a negative. Sure, it might creep people out, but it tended to keep those that weren't worth her time away from her, and that solitude was what she enjoyed since she tried her hand at leading the Hunters when they first had their influx of members. Needless to say, it had been a disaster, and that stress combined with a missing fiance was reason enough for her to leave before she almost got her head blown off in the park that one night.

By the time her thoughts came back around, she noticed that he was dabbing at the remaining sauce on his mouth, giving him a small wink to show him he got it all. It was kind of cute in a way, her smile only widening at his modesty.

"Humility is a nice quality, but you should learn when to take credit when it's given." She was about to go on, but his hysterical laughter made her pause, momentarily speechless as she simply let him carry on. Once he was finished, remarking once more how different things were here from the last hunting operation he was a part of, she had to laugh as well. It was contagious, after all. Looking around the cafeteria as he did, she tossed her curls over her shoulders once more, running one hand back through her bangs to get them out of her face.

"I guess so. I actually just stepped off a plane and was heading to Haven to check in with everyone when I met you. Wish I could say I was on a hunt, but I haven't been back in the city long enough to go to grab a bite to eat til now. It would be hard for me to go incognito since the Vampire Elder knows me by name, but we aren't on bad terms for the most part. There are some benefits, some disadvantages, but it's all about coming to terms with both of them. Once you accept it all, you can use it to your advantage, but it took me 2 years to get to the point I'm at now, and trust me, it was not always pretty." She decided it was best to spare him the details of what her transformation had been like - and lord knows she had been through a lot. If he asked, she would tell him of course, but she hoped her explanation would be enough for now. In fact, just so she could avoid their conversation going down that road, she decided it was best to change the subject.

"So, are you staying in Haven, or finding an apartment somewhere else in the city?"

Marcus leaned back, listening to her intently as she spoke. "Eh...I'll take credit when I feel I deserve it." He mused before becoming silence to hear her speak of her coming to terms with being a vampire. Something in her voice hinted the trials she had experienced. Trials that probably are none of his business. And with that, Marcus gave a weak smile and nodded his head in silent empathy.

Though his nod and silence was disturbed at the mention of where he was going to stay. "Er...well, this is the first time I've found out about this joint. Heh, the company I work for got me a cheap crappy one room apartment past the residential area. I was heading there, but, as I'm sure you probably noticed, got lost. Though if Meredith was okay with it, I would prefer to chill in a place like this." He chuckled as he gave the place an awe-filled gaze. "I mean, from what I've heard, the apartment I was given has a roach problem." A wolfish smile played across his face as he gave a shrug. "From the look of things, I won't have to worry about roaches here."

A sigh then escaped his voice as he leaned further back and threw his hands behind his head, causing some ache from his shoulder, though not as bad as earlier. For a moment, a curious thought came to him as to how quickly his wound was healing. Perhaps Dr. Gail was more skillful than he thought. That or the drugs administered to him prior to her stitching was much more stronger than he thought.

"Sooooo a curious thought came to mind..." Marcus gave an absent-minded smile as he stared straight ahead of him as he spoke. "Wanna go out tonight and paint the city red? Hell, you are my unofficial tour guide." He then let his head fall over to one shoulder as he glanced over to her, giving her a quick wink. "I'll just head upstairs and grab my equipment. Suit up into something a bit more...comfortable for a night time outing and well, you can show me around. Maybe we might stumble upon some fun or what not." His voice hinted to his mischief as his eyes gleamed with relish on the thought of going out. But was it the thrill of the hunt that he was interested in or whom he was going with, but either way, the Hunter seemed excited at his little thought.

"Then again, it is getting late and I'm sure you've got others you gotta check in with, such as Miss Jackson." His smile weakened some as he gave a sadden tone in his voice. Slowly but surly, his eyes began to glisten as mock tears surfaced the edge of his eyes, putting together the best puppy dog eyes he could make for the red head.

"I'm sure everyone would be thrilled for you to stay here. Lord knows it is better than most of the apartments in this city rented out to non-natives. The one I had was perfect before it got...you know...blown up. That's how I ended up here, and I would never go back to any of the roach nests in the affordable parts of town," she said with a hint of humor. The look in her eyes would tell him that she was telling the truth about the explosion - that was one day she would surely never forget. Despite everything, she was glad that he was staying in Haven. It would give her one more friend within arm's length should anything happen.

His sigh as he kicked back in his chair caused her to quirk an eyebrow slightly, tilting her head ever so slightly as she tried to guess what he was thinking about. As she expected, she had no idea, as the next words out of his mouth sounded like an invite to show him around the city. Her ever present grin widened into an all out smile, a soft laugh escaping her as she mulled over his offer in her head. There was nothing keeping her from doing it - the night was still relatively young, and she could go on very little sleep over days at a time, which meant she was doing just fine. The mischief that he hinted to in his voice was mirrored in the glimmer of her eyes, tossing her raven urls over her shoulder before rolling her eyes at his perfect puppy dog look.

"Oh alright," she said with an air of pretend exasperation. Sticking her tongue out at him playfully, she stood to dispose of her dinner remains. Even if she didn't say it, she was excited to get out in the city with someone like Raven - someone who understood the underlife of the city and knew what to do should they run into trouble. Of course, she would never say she was looking for trouble, but she did have a knack for running into it. If he hung out with her enough, he would soon notice that about the huntress.

"When Eden comes back, she'll let us all know when and where to meet her. No doubt she'll want to have a little meet n' greet. No, I think getting to know the city is a good idea. You can go get your equipment, I'll go change out of these traveling clothes, and we can head out in a few minutes. If you want, I can show you to an empty room if you want to freshen up yourself."

A chuckle escaped from the dark haired man as he gave a quick nod of his head, extremely pleased to hear his new companion interested in spending the night out in town. What made it even better was how comfortable to the two of them seem to be. This was something unique to Marcus as he was never close to any hunter, let alone a vampire. However, this vampiric woman Kerrigan brought something out of the 30 something year old man. Keeping his grin as he rose to toss his empty plate, Marcus beamed like a child about to go to a toy store.

"Yes. Please show me to an empty room. I mean, I've got no quarrels changin' in front of you, but you know...don't want to us to go too fast on our first date." The man joked as he gave her a playful wink before walking towards the doorway that exited the cafeteria. He paused there at gateway and turned to the woman with his smirk still on his face.

"I'm gonna go fetch my stuff I left with Mr. Hunter. I'll be right back in a Giffy." And no sooner than he disappeared from the doorway did he return, this time with his black duffle bag over his shoulder.

"Well, Miss Kerrigan, show me to my temporary quarters so I could get all fancied up for you on our date." The Hunter's voice continued to carry its playful and mischievous tone with the woman as his face carried a fox-like appearance. He was obviously enjoying himself and from how he continued to be playful, probably was going to enjoy more of the night ahead.

"Ah, well you're laboring under the impression I want you to change in front of me. Not that it isn't anything I haven't seen before," she said with a small chuckle, giving him a cool wink before he disappeared to get his things from Hunter at the bar. She used the time to glance at her reflection in the mirror on the door to make sure she didn't have any residual sauce on her lips - she would have liked to think he would have told her. Jumping slightly as he returned so suddenly, she chuckled at her own reaction, tossing her own raven black curls over her shoulders and messing through them with her fingers - a nervous habit she developed over the years.

When he said he was ready to go, she nodded, leading him through the hallways to the residential area of Haven. Showing him to an empty room not far from her own, she smiled at him, peeking in the door before she showed him in to make sure it had everything he might need.

"Umm, well it should have everything. If you need something that isn't here, my room is two doors down, so feel free to come on over. Why don't we go ahead and meet up back at Hunters," she said, tucking some stray tendrils of hair behind her ears. Once he was comfortable, she broke away from him, heading to her own room to change clothes for a night out on the town.

Marcus couldn't help but feel a bit of blood rush to his cheeks at her comment, a feat hardly anyone usually could pull on a man who considered himself to have no shame. In silence, he followed her to the room he was to change in. Once reaching it, Marcus nodded to the arranged meeting place.

"Upstairs? Sounds good." With that, he surveyed the place once before turning to notice her gone. Hoping she wasn't looking, Marcus peeked around the doorway to watch her vanish into her room. Marcus smiled as he then looked around the hallway before vanishing himself into his temporary changing room.
