In October, a month after I found out I was pregnant, my supervisor at 7-eleven fired me, because I have a lifting restriction. My mom is a paralegal and has some lawyer friends.. but they pretty much said that there wasn't much we could get on him, because he was firing me for the "restriction", and pregnancy isn't covered under a temporary disability (yet..). But they all agree he's pretty much a b*****d.
So that royally screwed my husband and I. My job provided our main income.
I've been trying really hard to find a new job, but no one wants to hire me as soon as they find out I'm pregnant. It's only going to get worse now that I'm showing a lot!
Are there no pregnancy-friendly, decently-paying jobs around?
I'm really scared, because we're going to have to move soon. Our lease is up in March, and I do nooot want to renew it. The place we live is horrible. I don't feel at all safe here. But it's going to be hard to afford better.. and afford the baby when it comes.. when he makes like minimum wage.
The worst part of this whole situation is just how stressed I am! I know it's not good for the baby, but I've been so depressed and miserable since I lost my job. I LOVED my job, and I was good at it. And it paid really well. 11.50 an hour is great when you have like.. no experience. xp
Has anyone else been in the same boat? Or know of any places that would hire me? I'm so tired of being turned away..
Thanks. ;w;

Possibly something working with kids? You can try a daycare or babysitting.

That's terrible. There has to be some place that'll take you.
Have you tried Staples? I'm sure they'd accommodate for you. Let me warn you: unless you give them a strict time that you can work there, they'll walk all over you. But you need the money, so if you haven't, give it a try.
Um what else? There has to be some retail sort of job where you don't have to handle stock. Like clothing stores, they generally have a floor staff and stock staff.
I wish you the best of luck and I hope something works out for you. heart

I haven't found a day care hiring around here yet, but I've been keeping my eyes open. That would be a good job for me. I love kids! :3
But I'll try Staples. There's one pretty nearby. I applied to a few retail stores in the local mall, but they turned me down. I'll keep trying, though. sweatdrop
I'm sending my resume in to Hertz to work in their call center. *crosses fingers* Hopefully I'll impress them enough they'll look past the pregnancy thing. @A@;;
Thank you both~ ^W^ I appreciate the help.

Where do you live exactly? you can always go to a center that helps people find work.
I really hate to even suggest this but i know mcdonalds will hire anything to walks really from my experience. My husband quit there a few times and got rehired on the spot lol
and he knew lots of pregnant ladies working there.
uhm..where else? I know walmart has programs for people with children and Target actually has a daycare program ....and they both have insurence for families after youve worked there for a while.
so those are both family related companies so they might hire you.
Also you can open up your own daycare if you get in a nicer place to live. I do know in canada atleast you can have up to four kids(other than your own) with out reporting it to the government and needing licence...so...idk..Good luck darlin heart

I live in Oklahoma. My mom suggested like.. a job agency place too, so she's doing some research. Hopefully Hertz will want me, though! It would be a nice job for me, taking reservations and sitting on my butt. XP
Yeah, I used to work at Sonic in HS, and I know they'll take me back. sweatdrop That's my last resort, though..
Target wouldn't be too bad, though! I'll try them out. :3 Thanks!

Make sure you relax! You gotsa a little bundle in your belly that stresses out when you do. I know its hard, I was in a similar situation; in fact, I'm in other, but you have to try and relax.
Try finding a local WorkOne office. I'm sure there is one is OK. Dunno, though. They can help you.
You might even want to look into a clerical position so that you're not on your feet very much. Well, that's if you're good at typing, but looking at your posts..it seems like it. <3
Good luck, sweetie, but make sure to relax. Take a nice warm bath at the end of the day if you have to. With lots and lots of bubbles because bubbles are fun.

Thanks. I've really been trying hard to relax. sweatdrop I'm just so depressed all the time though..
I had an interview with Hertz! I think it went well. So I just need to wait for them to hopefully call me back. ;w;
I've looked around for a clerical position; there are several available. But they all want experience.. Something that I'm severely lacking.. @A@;; But I'll keep trying~
Thanks for all the help. :3
