It was getting quite late. Unfortunately, Dragon had gotten off his shift only a while ago, as the ER had been packed, and there were a lot of doctors out sick. So of course it fell to the interns to fill in. Dragon had refused a ride home with Raizen, knowing that Rai needed his rest, and had agreed to find his own way home. Again, unfortunately.... Dragon and maps were like catfish wearing suntan lotion. They just didn't work together. The old saying 'can't find his way out of a paper bag' would have been accurate right now.
There he was, in full doctor regalia, intern ID pinned to his labcoat and stethoscope around his neck.... smack dab in the middle of town with no idea which direction to go. The air was chilly, and HE was chilly, but there was no getting around the fact that both he and the tree were absolutely lost. There were no streetlights on this street, so it was impossible to see the map. The only lights were from the highway, and those were too far away to be of any use. And what was worse was that there was no service out here for his cellphone. He was well and truly lost, it was pitch black, and all he really wanted to do at the moment was sit down on the curb and cry. But he couldn't, and he wouldn't, so he forced himself to keep going. Having Leafy there did help. He was a constant shoulder-angel. Something the distraught intern needed at the moment. He missed Rai! And apparently, the willow missed that wind, too.

The next street Dragon turned was just as barren and lightless as the one before, and he was starting to get out of breath from running around like this. He found the curb by touch, and sat on it, resting his head in his hands. Possibly not the best move to make this late at night on a strange block, but he was frustrated and clearly not thinking in a logical fashion anymore. Desperate would have been the right word. Sighing, he looked around into darkness, and made a growl of frustration and fear. You see, Dragon was also AFRAID of the dark. To save himself going mad with it, he started talking. To himself, yes, but talking nonetheless.

"I wonder where I am, Leafy." he said, knowing that the willow could... probably... understand him. "It's dark and I'm scared, and there's no one here. Raizen must be worried sick. But my phone doesn't work, I can't see the map, and I'm freezing my butt off here..."

He swallowed thickly, the frozen air sliding down his throat and making it hurt. It also didn't help that he was trying not to cry. In total surrender to his situation, he started to sing. Something Raizen and he had been listening to and loved.

"When I see your smile.... tears run down my face,
I can't... replace....
And now that I'm strong, I have figured out,
How this world turns cold, and it breaks through my soul...
And I know I'll find.... deep inside me, I can be the one...
I will never let you fall.... I'll stand up with you forever....
I'll be there for you through it all...
Even if saving you sends me to heaven..."

It was hard to continue after that, with tears pricking at his eyes, and he gave up, just burying his head on his arms, and sobbing like a child. He was cold, lonely, lost, and all he wanted was for someone to find him in this pitch darkness.

"Andthenitsaidwhydidthechickencrosstheroad..." The chatter was endless and contrary to the woman's initial suspicions the orchid had not learnt to slow down when she 'spoke'. Regardless of who the flower attempted to converse with, she generally chattered at such a fast rate that she could rival the gnomes from the Dragonlance series. It did beg to question whether or not the feminine plant had any inclination towards inventions otherwise Aversham might have become just a little worried. Needless to say, the plant couldn't move without assistance and as a consequence had yet to get it's leaves on anything that could potentially blow up anything within her immediate vicinity.

Aversham's relief at such an idea was more than it generally was when it came to such musings. You see, it was one of those rare occasions in which the woman had actually left her house and with considerable effort had navigated her way to her destination. She hadn't been food shopping in months, generally relying on the intervention of family members or internet ordering. It was quicker, more effecient and meant that she didn't dwell on the possibility of committing murder against the individual who stood in front of her at the cashiers checkout. Needless to say there were just some things you couldn't ask for online and wouldn't it be perfectly logical to assume that the talking PLANT had been the reason for the excursion.

She was feeling more like a mother each day.

Alas, she had successfully completed her shopping and now wandered down the barely lit streets. Bag slung over one shoulder with the orchid's pot inside and shopping bag in her opposing hand. She had arguably been forced to pick up the most ridiculous of things. Trimmers, plant food, new and bigger pots... How the Orchid had managed to convince her to buy a pretty lamp too remained to be seen!

Aha, luckily for Aversham, the darkness was of little concern to her. She preferred it for it drove the unwanted company away. Children were locked up for the night and the majority of sane people enjoyed snuggling up to watch their TVs. As an antisocial individual she positively adored the solitude provided in the night - a solitude and peace that was utterly shattered by the constant chatter of the orchid in her bag and shortly after - The entrance of a very disconcerted... Well what exactly was he?

Her pace slowed considerably and while the chatter didn't cease from her bag, she squinted her eyes and took note of his garb. By the looks of things he was a doctor, there were no sirens so why in the name of goodness would he be so panicked? Urgh - was this one of those moments when she had to be sociable?

"Ohcompanycompany!" The orchid announced excitedly, failing to recall that only Aversham currently possessed the ability to hear her and would thus be subject to an insane amount of chatter. Aversham had never met another individual in possession of a plant similar to her's, thus she anticipated that there would be very few that could even hear the orchid anyway.

"You're a bit far from the hospital, Sir..." She offered at last, her tone somewhat dark as she drifted from shadow to light with each footstep she took.

Dragon looked up from crying, his eyes tear-stained and reddish - though that couldn't be told from the blackness. His voice was the only thing that identified him, aside from the very visible white labcoat. His eyes, however, glowed. Ice-blue at that. They did not, at the moment, look like happy eyes. They looked scared.

"... I... I'm lost." he managed, quietly. "I was on.. my way home, and... I... I took a wrong turn..."

Leafy was concerned for the intern's well-being. He swirled around and around Dragon, 'looking' for anything obviously wrong. Nothing so far - which was good. However, he noticed the other essence, and perked slightly, sending a mental question-mark to the thing.

"EeeeeIcanhearitIcanhearit!" Silvanestii positively shrieked into the woman's ear and for a brief moment Aversham's expression clouded. She was not particularly appreciative of her ear drums being burst and as a consequence, chose to shake the bag lightly in warning. This didn't really do anything to settle the orchid though, who had already sensed an essence so similar to her's and was attempting desperately to communicate with it. It was difficult though, for she'd never sensed such a thing before and struggled to understand the best method of speaking. Aversham could hear her like this, did that mean that the willow's essence could too...?

"You're lost," Aversham repeated, her voice raising somewhat over the chitter of Silvanestii. He of course couldn't hear the flower, but Aversham couldn't help but raise her voice so that she could hear herself. Sometimes, the human really didn't know why she bothered... It would have been easier for her to plant the thing in the garden and leave it there. There was enough water from the rains and plenty of nutrients in the soil but noooo for some reason she felt compelled to help. Really, she was beginning to suspect that she was growing soft in her 'old' age.

"Well I don't mean to be patronising or anything but have you considered retracing your steps?" She pointed out, a logical thinker as ever. She hadn't yet come to the realisation that there were some people in the world who couldn't think logically when they were frightened. They merely panicked and much like this man, burst into tears. She couldn't see his tear stained cheeks but she could hear the quiver in his voice and it was with a sigh that she once again felt that tug at her heart stricts. She rather preferred being a hermit so this was turning into a bit of a joke...

"Alright then, where exactly were you headed?" she enquired calmly.

Meanwhile, Silvanestii was trying to communicate with the questionning essence in her own way. She had since fallen silent (for which Aversham was glad of) and was attempting to connect with the willow in much the same way as he had her. She wasn't accustomed to this, but still unsure of herself the flower sent out her own tentative response to the willow - a questionmark of her own!

'Leafy' was curious, yes - but more worried about his guardian. The willow shot a distracted image at the other, the tree of his essence, before he went back to circling around and around Dragon, attempting to get him to cheer up and perk up. He could tell the poor intern was very, very tired.

"I'm... supposed to be... on the corner of Creeksblood Mill and Cedar Rock Road. From there, I was supposed to take Creeksblood all the way to Hope Road, turn right, and head down to where I live. 341 Rainshadow Drive."

He stood, a bit wobbly, and showed her the map.

"I think I got lost somewhere around Raven Ridge Drive."

It was like speaking Greek to the young woman, she'd never been great at street names and seemed to rely purely on the magnetic 'north' point to return her to her own home. She would recall the routes in which she had taken and simply backtrack upon them, through the course of the following months she would build up a routine and it would become second nature. Alas not everyone in the world was like her, in this case... he wasn't. In a manner of speaking she supposed he really had a very good excuse for that; his brain harboured information on how to save the lives of countless individuals while hers primarily specialised in what many would consider to be completely irrelevant pieces of information.

"Well, you're definitely not in the right place," she agreed after a few minutes of eyeing the map, sliding her free hand into her pocket as she observed him. Slowly but surely he recounted the directions that were written down carefully on the sheet of paper. Evidently he was notorious for getting lost and whoever had written it was aware of this. To some this probably would have been an adorable quality, to her it was a bit frustrating. Nevertheless she had a vague idea of where the second street he mentioned was and forced herself to offer a rather uncomfortable smile.

"But I do know where Creeksblood is," she added and rolled her shoulders. The movement caused her back to hunch briefly before she straightened up once more and nodded a little over her shoulder towards where he had come from. "It's this way," she finished and without waiting for him to respond she started off down the street towards what she hoped was the correct 'Creeksblood'... It would be just her luck if she found out it was a different one!
