Arith sat in the library and read.
Or rather, tried to. Because despite his earnest urge to finish his book, he mind didn't seem to agree with him and kept straying to other subjects, like what a nice day it was to play outside, and how Konig must be having fun without him right now, and how Kotatsu had promised to make cookies.* There were just so many things to DISTRACT a young boy from reading.
Or rather, an old boy, he thought carefully. He had to remember he was a young man now, and he briefly felt very proud indeed. But he remembered himself. Back to the book! His eyes scrunched up with concentration, but it was of no use. It was as if fate didn't want him to read it and kept on distracting him with more important things. He buried his head in its pages in frustration. Paying attention was hard work.
*Kotatsu's cookies usually ended up burnt beyond recognition, so this was more of a worrying thought than a nice one.

It had been a while since Nero had gotten out of the house, especially without Kei. Ella had offered him a ride since she needed to go shopping, so he'd taken her up on it just for something to do. But now that he was out he didn't know what to do.
He stood on the sidewalk for a while just looking around at all the building s for a time before he finally settled on going to the library. The last time Nero had read anything had been some time ago, back when Axel had been teaching him spells. He gave his head a shake thinking back on that would only depress him, he reasoned as he entered the library.
As he entered he was greeted by silence and the musty smell of books every library had. Nero stood by the door for a minute while his four eyes adjusted to the dim light and as they did he saw something he hadn't expected. A boy with dog ears and a few other odd features. I wonder if he's from D-Corp too...Nero thought to himself. But seeing how the boy seemed to be so absorbed in his book, Nero didn't think it would be polite to disturb him and so decided to look down a nearby row of books instead.

Arith peeked up from his book again, ears perking at a noise from the shelves. He felt his resolve weakening more quickly than ice melting on a skillet. "Hello?" he asked curiously. His nose twitched, there was a smell in here that was new. It must be a new person, perfect! Just the thing to distract him from reading.
Only not, because he shouldn't get distracted. Didn't he have to finish this book? He bit his lip, conflicted, as the book stared accusingly at him. Book, person, book, person.
Arith got up from his chair to investigate the smell, book forgotten.
