I seem to be missing something. Other than the fact that the game takes place in WW2 and the player is American, how are these Nazis?

You are an american soldier who's plane crashed down into Germany. Suddenly, zombies. Nazi ones.
If you play it, they all wear Nazi, SS, or Wehrmacht uniforms. That is how they are Nazi's.

At first I wasn't interested in WaW too much because it was about the Pacific theater which doesn't really interest me but for some reason, it's friggin awesome to burn Japs with flamethrowers!
