- WWE’s major staff layoff continued today as a number of department heads were let go this morning. According to multiple sources, just about every supervisor and boss working at Titan Towers in Stamford, Connecticut was let go. As a result, one employee went as far as to refer to this week’s staff purge as “The Titan Tower Massacre.” In what can be deemed as humiliating, WWE had security guards escort the fired employees off the company’s Stamford property. Additional talent releases are expected to be made later today, so stayed tuned.

- World Wrestling Entertainment issued a press release confirming the ten percent reduction of its staff across all areas of the company. “These efficiencies will help position the Company for the long term, by placing it in a stronger, more flexible position,” said Linda McMahon. “With these actions, we believe we can execute our key strategic initiatives, including our digital strategy and international expansion, in a more profitable manner.”

I can't really blame them. With the economy the way it is, the WWE has got to stick with what's working well, and they have no room for such underdeveloped superstars.

Anyone got any guesses on who's going next? Let's see...

Ricky Ortiz
Dirk Ziggler
Ezekial Jackson
Kizarny
Goldust

If at least two of those guys aren't released, I'll be suprised.

¤ Kizarny, Cabana, Ricky O, Bob Holly, Ryan Braddock, and Burchill should be glad it's the weekend.

If, like me, you consider rehab as the first step to the release, you can say that he's out.

That would be a shame of Ziggler, Kizarny, and Goldust left. I don't see them going anywhere, except maybe Ziggler.

Here's more:

Pro Wrestling Insider is reporting that WWE has released wrestling legends Sgt. Slaughter and Ron Simmons.

Slaughter has worked for years as an agent/producer. In addition to doing the "damn" gimmick on television, Simmons has also done promotional work for the company.

It is said that Vince McMahon believes the U.S. economy will tank under the incoming Barack Obama administration.

They sure don't help the unemployment rate these days:

- Mike Johnson reports that WWE has released Tough Enough 3 winner Matt Capotelli who underwent surgery in 2007 to have a tumor removed from his brain.

- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE has released referee Mickey Hensen. The former Mickey Jay, follows Mike Posey, Kevin Keenan, and long time official Jim Korderas on the unemployment line. Tim White, who was also recently was released, is a former WWE referee as well.

- In addition to the recent cuts in talent, referees, and office workers, WWE has also closed down their Asia Pacific office located in Sydney, Australia, and laid off everyone working there.

- The WWE web site staff was gutted, with numerous layoffs.

- Security guards escorted all fired employees out of the building in Stamford, CT, which was said to not be a pleasant scene.

- WWE made additional cuts, but not all of the names have been made public.

Those are the only three I disagree with. Everyone else can fall off a cliff.
