Ambros was a timid dragonfly to say the least, as paranoid as can be and he was always on the move worried about some monster lurking behind every tree. It was rarely that he spent more then a night in one place especially if he saw other creatures around, but just the other night he had managed to find a nice looking tree that was leaned over and looked rather funny and spent the night there. His fish-like scales glimmered as he pondered spending yet another night beneath the tree, after all it was in a secluded spot and he hadn't seen anyone else nearby. The area as a whole seemed rather peaceful, there were no terrifying butterflies to land on his nose and make him itch as they tried to devour him, or at least he hadn't seen any yet, and he remained on look out, wary for any signs of anything scary.

Creeping slowly through the trees to pace he stepped on a branch, which made a loud cracking noise and he nearly jumped out of his skin, "Eeep!" he squeaked backing up quickly a rather panicked look on his face before he quickly checked the area, it was safe. He let out a loud sigh and sat down covering his head with his paws, "there's no such thing as monsters," he murmured.

Night time was always Vincent's preferred time of day. He liked it so much, had actually shifted his sleeping schedule so that he would be a nocturnal creature. While prey tended to be asleep at this time as well, it didn't stop him from catching food as normal.

On this particular night, the adult had been prowling around for his favorite meal. It had taken him some time to pinpoint one, but it wasn't long before he had a rabbit in his grasp. The little critter tried to get away, but there was no hope for it.

The rabbit let out a piercing squeal, which soon died down as Vincent delivered closed his jaws around his prey's body. He tilted his head up as he did this, letting the blood of the rabbit trickle down his throat first. No sense in letting any of the delicious red fluid go to waste by spilling it onto the earth.

Ambros took a deep breath," no such thing as monsters.." he said slowly as if trying to convince himself before he took his paws away from his eyes. He straightened up and brushed the dirt off of himself before he started walking back towards the tree, it was better to be in shelter he supposed rather then out and about in the scary darkness even if that shelter could possibly belong to someone else.

As he padded along he caught a glitter of crimson in the dim moonlight and froze, "uh oh," he murmured willing himself to back away towards the nearest hiding spot, which happened to be a bush close by. Quivering he managed to step backwards as he hoped not to step on anymore twigs and not to be spotted, though with his scales it would be rather hard to miss him, unfortunately.

Once the blood had been drained, Vincent went ahead and ate away at his meal. He didn't enjoy it as much, but it provided more sustenance for him than pure blood could, so he had to eat the rest of it. It didn't take long for him to finish, and when he did, he licked his chops and looked up to the moon.

"Ah... nothing like the blood of the freshly killed in the moonlit night," he said with a grin.

He stretched out his limbs, feeling quite satisfied with his meal, then turned about to go on with his business. But as he did so, he caught a glint of light from the corner of his eyes. Deciding to investigate, he made his way towards the bush he saw the glint come from.

"Is someone there?"

Ambros watched the ghastly sight his eyes wide with fear as he hid in the bushes shaking. This creature could only be described as his worst fear, a monster, for it's bloody visage horrified him. As he heard the monsters words he became terrified and ducked down covering his head with his paws.

"There's no such thing as monsters... there's no such thing as monsters" he murmured quietly, filled with fear.

Quivering he peeked through his paws and was frozen to the spot as the monster started heading towards his bush. When the monster called out it's question he had no idea how to reply or whether to reply at all, it might get mad if it finds him and he didn't reply, but if he did then what would happen? Perhaps he would be gobbled up for dessert?

"M-maybe..." he said quietly hoping he wouldn't be heard.

It was soft, but Vincent picked up on a small voice from within the bushes. Peering carefully, he could still see a small shimmer from the light. So he decided to speak out to whoever was hiding.

"Well then come on out! There's no reason to be hiding in the bush right? What you doing in there anyway?"

After saying this, he backed up some, to give the one inside some room to step out into. He then sat down on his haunches, careful to not sit on his crimson cape. And from there, he just watched the leafy bush, waiting to see what would happen next.

Ambros frowned shaking with fear, he really didn't want to come out of his bush and face this beast. He furrowed his eyebrows trying to figure out a way to avoid that situation, "well... I-I'd really rather not... I mean I'm looking for something i lost... near here..." He fumbled for a good reason other then hiding, he didn;t want to come out and he didn't want it to be known he was a coward.

He watched the monster move back and sighed his yellow eyes gleaming, now that he looked at him the monster didn't look so much like a monster after all, but the blood the gleaming blood he had seen... He shifted forward slightly debating whether or not to come out.

What a strange dragonfly it was that remained hidden in the bush. Vincent couldn't help but pick up a sense of nervousness from the way the other spoke. But the couldn't be certain.

"Oh? What did you lose? Maybe I can find it for you. If it was a rabbit, I'm afraid I have already.... devoured it. Quite a delectable creature full of delicious blood really."

Blinking, he realized he probably shouldn't have said that last part out loud. A number of dragonflies he had met in the past always gave him odd looks whenever he went on about how tasty rabbit blood was.

Ambros tilted his head slowly edging forward, it wasn't a good idea saying he lost something after all it seemed, "uh err nothing important.. it's not here anyway."

He stepped out of the bush and stared at his paws trying not to look at the beast and frowned at the last thing it had said, "you like b-blood?" he looked at him wide eyed sort of spooked. "Well thats ... umm interesting" he mumbled trying not to seem like the scaredy cat he was, though this other dragonfly was clearly quite frightening.

Vincent tilted his head some. This young male was a bit odd indeed. Though he shouldn't really be judging the oddity of others considering his own little quirks. Still, he thought this kid was a bit weird.

At the question however, he grinned with his teeth glinting in the moonlight.

"Why yes! It's the best part of prey I believe. So I tend to always drain my prey of blood before eating the rest."

Ambros was horrified, this dragonfly actually thought that blood was the best part of his meal! He edged away a little, eyes wide and locked on this stranger's teeth. "W-why do you like blood?" he squeaked imagining himself as a bloody mess, fallen prey to this scary dragonfly.

The thoughts of blood led his mind into a downward spiral, from blood to monsters, and from monsters to death. This dragonfly he was unfortunate to come across was a real monster! A blood-drinking monster! He backed away a little, not wanting to make his intentions to flee too obvious.
