I found the most incredible book, not so long ago, while at Barter Books. barter Books is the UK's biggest second hand book shop and is located next to Alnwick castle and gardens. I feel as if I simply MUST share it.
Title: EUREKAAARGH! Author: Adam Hart-Davis Summary: "EUREKAAARGH! is a fascinating collection of sometimes brilliant but often unlucky, and occasionaly downright daft inventions, all of which, for various reasons, fell at the first fence - or maybe the second."
In short, this book is a collection of daft inventions that never made it. It's is FULL of failed attempts and designs for pepetual motion, flight and even rocking horses! It's absolutely riviting (excuse the pun) and has many charming illustrations, direct from the patent office!
Rating: **** Personal Comments: I love it so much! not only does it include detailed descriptions of the inventions, but it provides history on inventors. also, I like looking at the illustrations and guessing what's wrong with the invention before I read what it was!
