It's been a while since I posted anything in the GAU. Figured I'd let people know I still exist. I'm just posting this just because it helps me. It's a eulogy of sorts for my grandfather.
This morning my grandfather died of natural causes at his home in Satellite Beach, Florida at the age of 77. He and I were not really close due to the physical distance between us, he lived in Florida and I live in Virginia, but I will miss him dearly and wish that I could have spent more time with him before he died.
This man was incredible and did more in one lifetime than most people could do in two lifetimes. He was a Marine Corp Captain who fought in both Korea and Vietnam, flew an SR-71 Blackbird, worked for the CIA as an operator, trotted around the globe and eventually settled in Satellite Beach and became mayor a few years back. All the while, raising 5 children. Of course, he's done a HELL of a lot more, but that's all I can remember.
The man was tougher than nails and feared almost nothing. Hell, he could probably beat down a grizzly bear barehanded, with one arm tied behind his back and blindfolded. At the same time though, he was a kind man who would help you out if you were down on your luck and even give you the shirt on his back.
I will miss him dearly and hope that he gets interred at Arlington National Cemetery, he deserves it.
Rest in Peace.
