The city of Waya is a wondrous place for stray cats. Between it's tightly-packed buildings are short, thin alleyways, an ideal place for any stray. Tipped-over trash cans and open dumpsters provide them with most of the nourishment they need, or well, they think they need. Most of these strays wouldn't dare dream of living with a human, no matter how desperate they are for tastier food or a warmer bed.
There is one place a stray can go to find some security. And that would be the territory of the Legends of Waya; the most well-known group of cats in all the city. In exchange for perhaps a few services, the Legends will ensure your comfort and safety. They'll tell you that, anyway. The main territory of the gang is located near the center of the city, in an old boarded-up brick building. No humans can get in, here, for all of the entrances are big enough only for a cat or some other kind of small animal. Here, in this building, is where you will likely find the two leaders of the gang. The friends Cloud and Zeek, who no doubt would be with their lovely harem of females, in a room containing plenty of the best pickings of garbage brought to them by their servants... what cat wouldn't want all of this?

High Ranks

-- -- -- -- --

Leaders
Highest rank possible, blah blah, I dunno, leaders are lame. You can't be a leader, hahaa.

Enforcer
Whether you're born from royalty or pushed your way to the top, you managed to get yourself here. You're respected and sometimes feared, the other cats know to obey you, should you command them to do something. Only answering to the leaders themselves leaves you second in command, you make sure to keep everybody in line when the leaders are away.

-- -- -- -- --

Protectors

-- -- -- -- --

Overseer
There's only one, so his/her job has to be done correctly. Being in charge of all the secret operations, this cat has their work cut out for them. Knowing where everybody is at and what they're doing is utmost importance, not to mention strategic planning and keeping everybody in line. Protection is an important part of any gang, so of course this cat has to be qualified, he/she is chosen by the leaders and will be replaced at anytime if they feel it's necessary. (Any companion is fine for this job. A cat must be promoted to reach this rank.)

Guards
So your job keeps you indoors, out of the rain and the cold, but that doesn't exactly make it easy. Guards are usually large cats, able to use brute force when necessary, but unlike henchmen these guys need brains and brawn. It's the guard's job to keep out intruders and make sure the leaders' orders are obeyed. Should you get in a tussle with a guard, you might want to make a run for it and never come back. They never forgive and never forget, and for this reason they need to have amazing memories along with the strength to enforce the rules. What the leaders say, go. These ranks are specially chosen by the leaders, there's normally about 2 or 3 at once, no more. (Rats/Mice are the only companions allowed for this job, for they are able to slip through secret tunnels that quickly lead to the leaders if a situation ever called for them.)

Scouts
Climbing high above the city and stalking alleyways is your job, you're supposed to know what's going on and when it's going down at all times. Stalking enemy territory and watching to see that dogs don't get too close to the hideout is an important job because if disaster strikes you're going to be the one blamed. Scouts must be sneaky, have to know what they're doing and need to be on top of things at all times. The Overseer chooses scouts for the gang and will replace them should he/she feel the need. (Rats are common for this rank, they blend in and can fit in small places, squirrels and birds are rare.)

Henchmen
So you're a bit of a brute and you may not have much in the brain department but you know how to take down things twice your size! In charge of keeping away things that might threaten other cats in the gang, you're at the front of the attack line. You're often sent to attack enemy gangs or... with the help of other henchmen, chase away those dang dogs that always want to get their noses near your hideout. Most of the gang members are afraid of you, and for a good reason, you're huge! (Rats/Mice are standard for this rank, they go for the paws while you take down the head! Good philosophy. )

Providers

-- -- -- -- --

Hunters
Sick of table scraps and human food, you know where to go and where the real food is at. Whether you're getting your paws wet, fetching fish in the duck pond, or chasing mice through buildings to provide quick snacks, you're the one bringing in the big meals. You keep everybody well fed and you know you're good at your job. Often enough you're a cocky bugger, always letting others know that there wouldn't be food on the table if you weren't on the job. (Birds are common for this type of job, seeing as they can see more with a bird's-eye view. Very rarely a hunter may have a raccoon, but if something went wrong... they could turn on a cat and kill it, so this doesn't happen often.)

Thieves
Master of stealth and one of the more gutsy ranks out there, you're a thief. Getting close to humans is no easy task for a stray, but for you, it's no problem! Whether you're slipping in and out of windows, taking that warm chicken straight off of a plate or grabbing a roll of sausages from that fat old bald man in the park, you're taking what doesn't belong to you and using it for greater good, aka your pack. Though food is important, thieves are also in charge of stealing blankets, toys and other cat-like necessities. (Mice are common in this line of work, sometimes you'll find a squirrel or two and rarely a bird. Companions should be good distractions or extremely sneaky to make the job easier for the cats.)

Scavengers
Whether you're dumpster diving or stealing scraps from unsuspecting children in the park... you're grabbing food for the gang. Some might say you're not very talented and one of the lower class providers but we like to make you think you're worth more than that. One old smelly hotdog bun is better than no old smelly hotdog bun, right? (Mice/Rats are popular companions for this job, every once in awhile a cat may have a squirrel or bird but this is rare. These companions can help cats to find food in small places, or somewhere up high that they can't reach.)

Some awesome P-word!

-- -- -- -- --

Elders
Okay, so you're a little old, a bit wrinkly and maybe kind of smelley, but when has that ever stopped anyone? Elders come in all shapes and sizes, some are kind, some are grumpy, but for the most part they know what they're talking about. With age comes wisdom, making these cats perfect candidates for enforcing the rules and giving advice. A smart cat knows that a stern look from an elder means you're doing something wrong and should fix it promptly. Respect is key here, no matter how important you think you are, you should listen to your elders. (Companions depend on what they were before becoming an elder.)

Companion Keepers/Assigners
Have you ever wondered where all these rats come from, y'know the ones hanging around with the gang members? This is where keepers and assigners come in. Obviously keepers keep the companions and assigners assign them to whom they think they fit with best. These two work close together so they're combined to one category. There can be a max of 3 keepers/assigners at one time! Should someone go inactive a keeper/assigner will be replaced. (Keepers and Assigners mostly keep rats/mice, since they're low maintenance for the most part. Unlike other ranks, keepers are allowed two companions, to help out with all the work that comes with companion keeping.)

Medics
Medics are mysterious, always patching up gang members with cuts, scrapes or severe wounds. How they do it is the big mystery, because once a cat's patched up they seem to forget or never talk about it again. It couldn't be magic, because there's simply no such thing, perhaps these special cats know a vet or two. What's really behind their secretive ways? Nobody knows, but we can tell you that when you're sick these kindly cats will give you the best care you could possibly ask for. (Birds, Mice and Rats are common companions for medics, squirrels are extremely rare and almost unheard of.)

Midwives
When gang members give birth to kittens and have no way of taking care of them with their busy schedule... bring in the midwives! These fine ladies take care of the kittens, tell them stories and make sure none of them get hurt. They also help the female gang members out when they're pregnant and/or giving birth. The midwives live to help, so even when there's no kittens around to care for, these motherly females are found offering a paw wherever it's needed. There are rarely male midwives, this is mostly a female role. (Rats/Mice are standard companions for midwives.)

Lovely Ladies
This rank is for females only. There's not much to say about them, other than they stick around to entertain the males... specifically Cloud. These females are usually the ones that make up Cloud and Zeek's harem. (Mice/Rats are standard companions for Lovely Ladies.)

Kittens
Most kittens born in the gang are cared for by the midwives who teach them all about growing up and choosing a rank. They may choose to leave the gang when they become teens or they may choose a rank to stay in the gang. Kittens may not have a specific rank until they become teens. (Kittens do not have companions.)
