Oh no oh no, GQ what happened? I'll try to find more info.

EDIT: Damn, I couldn't find a thing. How recent is this? Does it have anything to do with a small plane crash or something?

Teens on first flight among dead in crash

10:16 AM PDT on Sunday, October 16, 2005

EVERETT, Wash. - Two teenage girls that were part of a program that gives kids their first ride on a small plane were among those killed in Saturday's crash near Paine Field Saturday morning.

The girls were students at Aviation High School on the South Seattle Community College Campus. The volunteer pilot was also killed.

The single-engine Piper PA-28 went down around 9:45 a.m. southwest of the airport, said Karen Byrd, a duty officer at the FAA's regional operations center in Renton.

The girls were part of the Young Eagles program, which offers children between 8 and 17 the chance to take a free flight on a small plane. About 80 students from the Aviation High School were signed up to participate in the Young Eagles program.

The girls' identities were expected to be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner Monday.

Sheared treetops were visible in the area near where the plane went down. Witness Pat Peck said he say the plane clip a tree, roll and then head down, nose first into.

Although the plane went down in a residential neighborhood, it crashed in an open area.

"He picked the hole to crash in, so, he knew he was saving people at the time he knew he was dying," one witness told KING 5 News.

The plane burst into flames shortly after impact, but it was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

It came after the plane had pulled away from a first attempted landing at Paine Field, where the girls had planned to switch seats for the trip back to Boeing Field.

Investigators told KING 5 that one of the plane's wheels was not touching the runway when it made its first attempt at landing.

The plane then climbed to about 3,000 feet before crashing on its return.
