I don't think friendship should be lost because of a misunderstanding. That friendship should have to be worked on at certain times....
You can't assume things. You have to talk things over.

"A best friend is someone who yells "I LOVE YOU" in the hallways, not caring if anyone thinks your lesbian." Haha. My friend's sister put that on mine and my friend's profile, because everyone is convinced we're lesbians, because we were arguing, and I kinda pouted and said "I love you" and held my hand out in a half heart, and my friend finished the heart, and said "I love you too". Umm, besides that, I think a friendship is when you can be depressed, and the other person can get you laughing in a matter of seconds. And if you've been friends for over a year, and haven't gotten into even a tiny quarrel with each other, then something's wrong. I know I only have a few of those.

Friendship means a lot to me. Loyality, compassion, sympathy, honesty, and openness are key traits for a friendship. Friends are the ones you can lean on in the bad times and celebrate the good times. Friends are a rare, precious find. Like a jewel in a bag of coal, yknow? It's hard to put into words what a friend means to me.. =/

To me, friendship is not a commodity. It is a mutual respect which is earnt between individuals. I don't have a single person whom I call my friend who I do not have a HUGE amount of respect for. Friendship is also able to be picked up after long periods of time apart. I recently caught up with a friend who just got out of an abusive relationship in which she was controlled and manipulated. After two seconds of being in each other's presence, it was like we'd never been apart.
Hellllllllllllll-OH Legendary status! ^^

This is my idea of a best friend and, though I feel it is still incomplete, I am fortunate to have two such people that I know, one of whom I'm currently dating.
Friendship is being able to call someone at 4am to wake them up and tell them that you had to end a three-year relationship... and the only thing they do is help you get through it.
Friendship is being able to pick on someone without them getting mad at you.
Friendship is being able to vent about something that's going on without the other person getting all pissy about it.
Friendship is the ability to be open about anything and everything and still be able to joke about them later on in life.
Friendship is something that can be picked up after five years of not saying a word to each other.
Friendship is being able to make each other laugh, regardless of the circumstances and mood.
Friendship is getting into fights and agreeing to disagree after several hours of arguing each others' points.
And most importantly...
Friendship is accepting each other no matter what.

(I don't mean to be rude or anything, but bleh. I just feel like I'm reading through the end lines of some children's show, not to bash anyone's points. and I'm probably going to sound as corny to everyone else as they do to me, so yeah.)
I think that friendship should be the imperfect, incomplete, endlessly relentless entertainment, conversation, comfort and support that another person brings. I say this because there is no way to know another person entirely that wouldn't intrude on their privacy. (speaking of which, a friend is someone whom you trust will invade your privacy and still be polite about it.)
((I'll finish this later, since I have to get some sleep. gonk parents aren't friends, unless they're the parents of your friends. crying ))

Friendship to me is the feeling of sympathy and empathy, being able to be honest to eachother and having a mutual understanding. Being able to share things with eachother, having fun together but being able to rely on eachother as well during hardship, friendship is my substitute for what I lack of family support.

Never Stop Dreaming...
Friendship is something I actually don't know much about. I'm a keep-to-yourself kind of person and until I moved to Michigan I had no need for friends (Please, it's not as bad as it sounds). But as of right now, friendship is something you have with someone -a sibling, a parent, a classmate- where oyu both associate with each other and spend time together more than you would an acquaintance. Best friends are when you really care for each other and love each other in a friendly way.
To me, it's not that important right now, though it would be nice to have one close friend. Of That Beautiful Place...

Friendship is a bond between two people that is strong enough to to be able to accept the other person despite differences and to be willing to embrace those differences. Friendship is crying with someone when they need to cry and celebrating with them when things go right. Friendship is being there for someone regardless of whether or not it's convenient for you at the time. And of course it's a two way street, they should be willing to do the same for you.

A true friend is someone who you can trust completely, who trusts you. A person who knows you better than your parents, as well as your significant other, and will not hesitate to bring you back into line when you act up.

For me?
A friend is someone who puts up with me, cause they know I put up with them. If one of us goes 'off the map', the other will gladly grab them kicking and screaming and make them have fun with people again. They drag each other around and make each other put up with all kinds of stuff, not all things really that bad. we trust each other and know the other wont screw that.
And for that best friend that's local? She'll put on a dress and make up in 100+ degree weather, cause she luvs me XD

Sounds like my cousin. She hadn't worn a dress in 10 years, and I managed to get her to bend to it. Although it was only in the 80s that day, thank goodness.
