Winona quest part 2 Bunnies are srs business p 1
" Winona did you remember to check Denim,'s water yet?"
The bison girl nodded at her mother's question as she chewed a mouthful of cereal, unable to speak just yet. Denim was the name she'd given her new male bunny rabbit she'd found on the porch the day before. She'd wanted to name him something blue because his fur was that colour and her mom had suggested denim becuase he was sort of the colour of jeans. Although the girl thought it was funny becuase jeans felt rough and Denim was soft and fuzzy like the kittens at the pet store. Well his teeth had been hard and had clicked on her fingers when he tried to bite her the night before, although Winona had scared him and she couldn't really feel it so she wasn't too mad.
After swallowing she finally spoke " Yes I took his bottle into the bathroom with me this morning when I went to brush my hair." Denim had come with a small water bottle that clipped onto his cage, it had to be changed every day to keep the water fresh and becuase he could drink it all throughout the day and night. Rabbits slept weird hours so Winona had to be careful and check his water when she could. The papers her mother had printed out for her about bunnies and his special type told her what she had to do. There was a lot more to know than the girl had expected.
There was a lot of words she didn't know or understand so her mother had had to help her read some of the parts. Still Denim was her pet and she had to take care of him or else her mother had said she'd take him away. The young girl didn't think you should be allowed to take away gifts but she'd agreed becuase she really had no choice. Plus Denim was too small to take care of himself so someone had to, she was sort of like a mommy to him.
" You're like a rabbit" the girl said looking over at her sister, Moloch sat in her high chair licking oatmeal off her hands. The troll girl's green eyes raised to look at Winona for a moment before going back to her food covered hands. " You have to eat at the same time every day or you get cranky" Rabbits didn't get cranky but they were supposed to eat at the same time each day. Rabbit pellets, which looked and smelled boring, in the morning and timothy hay, which smelled great, at night.
Winona scratched at the base of one of her budding horns and thought it was a little bit unfair. She didn't have school or anything yet and she didn't always get up at the same time in the morning, not even to catch morning cartoons. Now though her mom said she'd have to have an alarm and get up at the same time every morning to feed him. The girl wanted to keep her new pet though she didn't think she was going to like the extra work or moreover the having to change her schedule or lack thereof just for Denim.
Once breakfast was over Winona headed back upstairs to her room. While her own snow white hair on her head, hands, legs and the tip of her tail had been brushed earlier in the morning Denim needed his own brushing. He was still little and apparently his special type of rabbit had two types of fur but the second one wouldn't grow till he was older and the one he had now needed to be brushed every other day or every third. The bison girl was a bit jealous of that, she had to brush every day or she got tangles, plus her mother insisted on it.
Denim stared at her with beady little eyes as she lifted up the top on his cage and reached for him slowly letting him see and smell her hands first so as not to scare him. The girl's soft brown eyes narrowed at all the silly things on tv and in cartoons where magicians pulled rabbits out of their hats by the ears. They were adults and should know better. She was just little and even she could read that you never picked bunny up by it's ears. Carefully the child lifted the soft fluffy bunny up and cuddled him to her chest for a moment. Winona did think it was cute when his nose twitched and he looked up at her all curious like.
Slowly she placed Denim down on her bed and reached for the small brush she'd bought yesterday, while holding him as best she could with one hand. fortunately he seemed like a very lazy bunny. Carefully Winona drew the brush over the rabbits body being extra careful around his ears and face. He was small still and it didn't take very long though he did have one small tangle that made him jump she she had to brush through it. " I'll always remember to brush you" the girl promised then, feeling bad that she'd had to hurt him today. If she didn't remember to brush him he'd get more mats and then when she did brush him it would hurt and that would be bad.
Once the grooming was over Winona kissed Denim on the top of his head and put him back in his cage. He'd be going to sleep soon so she'd have to go play downstairs and turn the light off so he could rest. It was weird changing how she did things just because of a bunny but it wasn't too bad so far.

Winona quest part 3 Green thumbs
Winona followed closely behind her mother as they trekked through the store attached to the local green house. Apparently her mother needed stuff for her soon to be planted garden and now was a good time to get stuff for her own gift plant as well. Since it was impossible for Moloch to keep her hands off and out of things it was just the two of them for which the girl was glad. Winona loved Moloch but she had started to miss time alone with her mother. Shopping for plant stuff was going to be boring but it was better than nothing.
The first thing they stopped to look at were a sort of water thermometer, you stuck it in dirt and it could tell if the dirt was too dry and needed water or not. Some people like uncle Charlie could do it with their fingers but Winona's mother preferred to trust the gadget to do it for her. The bison child herself had little feeling in her fingers and doubted she'd be able to tell anything by sticking her hands in dirt unless it was really wet. as it was they still weren't sure what her little plant was so it was best to just water it based on when the soil in the pot was dry then try and guess when it needed watering. Winona thought thought it made sense that plants could die of thirst becuase well they were alive too. Still, she hadn't really thought they could drown like normal things too, but apparently too much water was bad for them and basically drowned them too.
After getting a few of the water readers her mother went to look for bulbs that would turn into flowers, the only bulbs Winona had come across were the kind that went in lights so this was a bit confusing but she just figured there w ere just different types of things that shared the same name even if it was weird. In any way Winona had been left in an isle filled with pots, eventually her little sprout would probably go big enough to need a new pot and Winona was supposed to pick one now . she could either get one that already had stuff on it, and there were a lot of those kind, pits with flowers and vines and bees painted on them. Or she could get a plain one she could paint herself.
It was hard decision, on the one hand she could get a pot that was perfect, had the designs she liked on it and was chosen just by her. On the other she could pick a plain pot and decorate it herself putting on the designs she wanted, sort of decorating her plants home by herself, though it would only look good if she could paint it properly and Winona didn't know if she was any good at painting. the girl was still young yet and her skills were pretty small, the thing she was best at really was card games she played with her uncle charlie. In the end she picked plain, earthy smelling pot, even if she couldn't paint on it she could draw on it with her markers becuase she wasn't too bad with those.
Just as Winona had finished making her choice her mother, whom she'd heard talking with a sales lady even though she hadn't seen her, reappeared and took the hard to handle delicate object.
The shopping trip continued for a while with Winona learning new things, like that plants made their own food with sunlight but they needed stuff in their dirt to do it. That there was bugs that were good for plants but also bad kinds that required a special spray to keep them away; Winona would be sure to spray her sprout it was too little to worry about a bug hurting it or something. Not that she thought a plant was half as interesting as Denim but still it was hers and she wanted it to grow big and strong, maybe she could even make it bigger than anything her mother or uncle charlie would grow..
~
Hours later found the Bison girl laying on her stomach, tail flicking lazily behind her as she coloured on the orange pot her plant was currently in. Her mother and Moloch were watching cartoons in the living room, where she lay half watching and half doodling having decided this pot needed decoration to. She wasn't going to talk to the plant, that was silly, or pet it: she might break it right now, but she could at least make it's pot look nice before she stuck the water reader in it and put it in her windowsill.
Her small gift of a plant was less work and less confusing than Denim but also less interesting for now, although she was curious to see what it would one day become.

Winona quest part 4 Bunnies are srs business pt 2 Finale
" Don't grab you have to be gentle or he'll bite you." Winona chided Moloch and grabbed her sister's hand. The bison child was trying to show her sister how to properly pet Denim. While she didn't have to share the blue fuzzy lop with the troll girl she did want to teach her how to play with him during the times that the younger girl was permitted to. There was perhaps two or three years maturity difference between the two but it was quite a gap especially when it came to understanding about how to follow directions.
It frustrated Winona but she loved her sister and thus simply snorted, flaring her nostrils and carefully flattened Moloch's hand before bringing it down on the back of the rabbit. At least this was going better than calming the younger dark skinned girl down earlier had. The troll child's shrieks and excited garbled cries had made Denim too jumpy to touch again until this evening when both he and Moloch seemed to have settled down
After a moment of Winona guiding the other girl's hand she let go and narrowed her brown eyes watching Moloch carefully, she didn't want to have to get mad at the other girl but she was going to protect Denim of Moloch got rough. Fortunately for all involved Moloch kept her hand flat and smiled silently as her hand slid along the soft fluffy back of the blue furred rabbit. Winona grinned at that, she had done that, made her sister be gentle.
Still she watched the pair carefully, though Moloch seemed not interested in causing harm like normal. Denim was twitching his nose and smelling the wooden kitchen floor, his ears not finished growing yet were partially raised. Once he was doing growing, he was supposed to be able to lift them anymore.
Though she hadn't had the rabbit very long Winona found she was learning a lot just from having Denim. She now knew rabbits needed exercise just like people and that his nails made him slip on the floor sometimes just like she did with her hooves.
Unlike her hard coated fingers though his nails had to be clipped for his safety and hers.. Since Winona couldn't hold the clippers properly she'd have to have her mother do it. Although she'd be able to hold Denim while it was happening to help keep him calm.. well sort of. For some weird reason when you put bunnies in their backs they froze, it certainly didn't work for her or Moloch. It was still sort of interesting though, except she'd have to be careful becuase you couldn't leave them like that too long becuase it was bad for them.
The young girl's tail flicked about on the floor beside her, the white tuft of hair at it's end caught Denim's attention for a moment then the rabbit yawned showing off his teeth before closing his eyes and possibly going to sleep. Teeth, Winona had read about his teeth today in the booklet her mother had printed out. Rabbits teeth were always growing, she wondered if that hurt becuase Moloch screamed whenever she got a new tooth, and he needed things to chew other than his food so they didn't get to long.
There were chewing things you could buy at the store but uncle Charlie had called and told her she could also give him the rolls that toliet paper came on and sticks she found outside if she took the bark off and soaked them to make them clean. Winona liked this ideas better, she didn't get much money to spend to begin with and then she could pick special sticks just for him to chew.
Apparently not asleep but just resting Denim perked his ears up again listening to something the two girl's couldn't hear before hopping forward about a foot, Winona wasn't too worried, her mother had set up babygates that normally were used to keep Moloch from crawling around down the stairs and stuff up. Denim could hop about and exercise to his hearts content and he wouldn't be able to escape.
Winona grinned as she watched him hop forward the pause to clean an ear before exploring again, she girl dirty all the time when she was playing but she never stopped to brush her hair or anything before finishing playing. The young bison girl still wished she could have gotten him a ball to roll around in like on tv but becuase bunnies hopped with both back legs at once it wasn't safe. Lots of things weren't safe for them she was learning, they were very delicate things for something that could bite so hard.
A half hour later it was time to get ready for Dinner so Winona carefully scooped Denim up being sure to support him properly so he didn't get scared or hurt. it was a little hard to hold him not becuase of her lack of fingers but becuase if she held him close to her chest like was best he would nibble at her shirt and that was bad for him instead she held him just a bit away from her and giggled as he licked.. no groomed the hair on her hands. " You're weird" she informed him placing him back in his cage and then lifting it to take it back to her room. Weird and fluffy and cute and all hers.
Only a few days ago Wino had received two very different but equally special gifts. They had both made her change things, from getting up at the same time every day for Denim to keeping her curtains drawn back so her plant could get sunlight over on the bookshelf since it didn't fit on the windowsill. Still, Winona was glad to have her special presents.

Easter plans
Winona giggled a little as she watched Moloch scribbling on an egg. The small forest troll girl didn't have a lot of co-ordination or imagination but she seemed intent on getting whatever design it was she was planning out. Winona herself went back to drawing little stars on her egg. The wave of the crayons kept the dye from overpowering the design on the egg so even if the egg got dyed purple the starts wouldn't get washed over and forgotten. The young Bison girl liked that, she also liked that her mother have give them lots of colours to dye with and even some paints and brushed for her to use so she could get any design she wanted on them. It wasn't easy even with her more flexible fingers the brushes and crayons slid against the hard hoof coating to her fingers. Still if she was careful and patient it would pay off.
As it was Winona found Easter to be sort of strange but interesting, she knew very well that bunnies didn't lay eggs and they couldn't walk or give out candy, still the whole thing seemed neat. Her mother had tried to explain to her that there was more to it than that but it involved someone dying and Winona didn't want to hear about that becuase dying wasn't fun and Easter was. Though Winona wouldn't actually eat any of the eggs they were painting and she wasn't overly fond of candy, though she loved sweet drinks, she knew that her mother would be getting her an Easter basket for the special day. Winona could probably make her candy last a while while Moloch would try to eat all of hers at once. Rabbits didn't celebrate holidays but Winona was going to give Denim a treat and a new chew toy on eater just becuase it only seemed fair really, Easter used rabbits so they should get things too.
Most of all thought what Winona looked forward too was something called an Easter egg hunt where people hid plastic eggs filled with candy, and small toys and money. On sunday Her mother was taking her and Moloch to one and they'd get to collect as many eggs as they could. Winona would be going out twice becuase little kids like Moloch had hard time doing stuff alone and they got to have helpers, though her mother warned her she had to be fair and help nicely but not do all the work for Moloch or make it so she got way more eggs than the other kids. Then later kids her age would get to go out and hunt for their own eggs. Then Winona could collect as many as she wanted. The girl was sure she could get the most, she was fast and even though plastic was slipper on her fingers she could just scoop the eggs up and put them in her basket.
The more she thought about this the happier the girl got her white hair tipped tail swishing animatedly behind her. As she place her egg in a bowl of green dye Winona smiled and slipped from her chair to go watch more of the Easter movie her mother had bought. Since the eggs didn't get really good colours unless you left them in for a while it gave her time to watch the movie a little at a time as well which was fun becuase whenever she stopped she had to wait a while to see what would happen next. All in all the Bison child really really liked Easter.

Swim lessons
Winona sighed softly as she tucked her hair up into a swim cap, according to her mother if she didn't keep her hair up and dry while swimming it's be much harder to swim becuase hair felt much heavier when wet. The bison girl had noticed that when she was was bathing but never found it too bad before, of course then again she'd never been trying to swim in the tub either so she supposed her mother could be right. Either way today she was taking her advice.
Today was the white haired girl's first swimming lesson, with summer approaching it was apparently important to learn how to swim. She's never needed to know how before Winona twitched and flicked her ears to catch the sounds echoing off rather resonant tiles of the change room. It made her a bit nervous changing like this in front of other people but that was the way it had to be done. Maybe from now on she'd put her bathing suit on under her clothes before she came here.
A few minutes and a quick rinsing shower later the girl walks carefully towards the shallow end of the pool to join the other girls lining up for their first swim lessons as well. Winona was sure she'd be fine once she was in the water but her hooved feet, well they weren't meant to be very stable on slick tile surfaced and so she watched her step with each motion. The young bison girl was starting to develop a competitive streak and she did not want to look stupid in front of the other girls before class even started. instead she waved at her mother behind the class viewing wall and slipped slowly over the edge into the shallow water no jumping or splashing for her.
A little while later partway through the lesson Winona thought this swimming this wasn't half bad. She didn't didn't like sticking her whole head under water and it was much water to move then she'd though it would be but it was still fun. The bison girl wasn't the best in her class but she wasn't the worst either nor was she the only one with her hair stuck in a cap. As she semi focused on trading water without moving very far and hitting neighbor Winona watched a boy jump off the diving board in the deep end and do a flip before entering the water. How cool! She wondered how long it would be before she could dive like that.. even if she still didn't like have her head below the surface.
