Artemisia hesitated. She had basic knowledge of first aid--it was standard practice to learn it when working around dangerous lab equipment--but that was about it. Anything more complex than immediate response was pretty much beyond her, and she'd never learned anything medical formally. It was all from books read in her spare time or offhand advice from the lab techies.

"I don't think we have a choice but to wait it out and give him space," she said unhappily to Dianna. "Restraining him or trying to move him would be dangerous if his seizure gets more violent. Most seizures pass in a minute or so--he should be ok afterwards."

With that, she rounded on Bellamy, her tone a little sharper than usual. "Is this chronic?" she asked. "And with your powers, can't you help him?"

Damn. Kevin was going to have to do something about this wasn't he? "Back up! I've had some medical training," he shouted. Everyone was shouting and running around like chickens with their head cut off. Seriously, did no one take first-aid courses anymore? At least they got him on his side. "Don't restrain him. It's good you put him on his side, but here, let me..." he trailed off as he got close to Isaac, gently pushing Pinkie aside. He gently, slowly, and oh-so-carefully moved Isaac into recovery position.

"All we can do now is wait. If it lasts more than five minutes, then it's a bigger problem. Bellamy, does he often have these kind of seizures? Are they part of his power or something?" Kevin had heard that some powers had nasty side effects. And he was thankful that his own seemed to come without strings.

Again, Charlotte wasn't the most helpful type. Had she been the only one in the room when it happened, of course she would have done something.. but considering that the man who'd just crumpled to the floor was now surrounded by a group of people, she only took a few steps to see what had gone wrong. She was so engrossed with the punk kid that she noticed moments after they'd run to his side. She felt embarrassed, but anything she might have suggested already had been. These mutants were much more capable at handling the situation than she was. Maybe she'd judged them to harshly...

"I hope he's all right," for a brief moment she let her guard fall and looked back at the punk kid. Her entire demeanor changed. She looked vulnerable and generally concerned for the first time since coming to the compound and probably in several years. "Has something like that happened before?"

The boys attitude as he came right up to where Dianna was, pushing Haeven away on Isaac's other side, and dealt with the problem efficiently gave her very little reason to question it. But the part of her that was still a child (which was sizable, though well subdued by her meekness) wanted to jut out her lower lip and pout as Isaac's body was moved beneath her hands by Kevin. Instead, she pulled them away, relaxing them from normal density and folding her arms. As she watched, worried about the boy but not able to muster an emotional response, she was shocked to feel a drop of something wet splash on her cheek. With a brush from her fingers though, she was surprised (and relatively relieved) to see it was only blood that had built up from the cuts on her face the Tesla Field had created.

For a moment she looked at her mostly whitish and pale clothes, not wanting to ruin them but unsure of where to rub the blood off of her hand, and settled for rubbing her hands together hard and fast, smearing the little spot into oblivion on her palms. Her arms crossed again and she focused on glancing between Vivian's brother and the white-haired boy on the ground between them, ignoring the likelihood that the rest of the scratches across her body weren't likely also dripping a little bit now.

Haeven moved to the other side as Kevin took care of the new friend. Everything had happened so quickly, she didn't have time to really understand what was going on. Carefully, she stood up and backed away holding her hands close to her chest. Had someone in the room done this to him? She looked around searchingly for some kind of explanation.

"He just straight up dropped. He was fine and talking just second and then he fell over. I don't think I did anything..." It was hard these days to tell if one was responsible for something. Especially if that someone was a mutant. People were discovering new powers about themselves every day - maybe these courses had released something within someone that reacted with Isaac's powers. Ugh - the possibilities were endless. She needed to chill out. She began to pace lightly, taking some steady breaths, "No Bueno, No Bueno, No Bueno...." She whispered to herself. This was no good, indeed.

Ryan hesitated in shock as Isaac dropped to the floor, twitching until Dianna and Kevin swooped in and saw to the situation. For a moment, all eyes had been on him as if he somehow knew what to do. He was relieved to have the others take care of the kid...he wouldn't have even known to turn him on his side. He stood back, concern etched on his face as he watched the scenario unfold.

Isaac's eyes were open the whole time and instead of the slow shift between colors of the visible spectrum they usually displayed, they were flashing random images, like a television switching rapidly between channels. No meaning could be discerned from the images which appeared in reverse, as though through a mirror. Bellamy spoke in response to Artemisia's question, addressing the concern of everyone watching the scene. "Yes, this has happened before...it's part of his ability. Though it is a bit unsettling to witness, there's no need to worry."

After about a minute or two, Isaac settled down, his eyes resuming their slow shift between colors as he returned to consciousness and sat up, an expression of embarrassment over the scene he had caused on his face. Before he could speak, Bellamy asked "what did you see, Isaac?" The young man looked up, his expression turning to great and serious concern. "They're mobilizing...it's finally happening. The nation of Eden is beginning its attack on Australia. They launch their attack on Sidney in 48 hours."

Dianna's arms crossed tighter as she watched the images flash over his eyes, thinking of yet another experiment involving flashing lights and loud noises that she was a bit glad to have little memory of. When Bellamy confirmed that Isaac would be fine though, her grip on each opposing upper arm slackened. She carefully brushed away hair from his face once or twice during the episode, and pulled back abruptly as it ceased, re-crossing her arms. Her retreat only continued as she heard the announcement. She'd not been very concerned with catching up on human/mutant tensions after she'd gotten out, but she would've had to have been completely thick not to have noticed to marked difference in official attitudes toward the conflict of supremacists on either side of the issue. However, she hadn't realized there was anything like plans for all-out war on the horizon; that had seemed a distant issue, something that would take more time and encouragement. Then again, over nine years out of the loop my have impaired her judgment.

So, at the news, she leaned back and settled her head nervously on knees, perching on the balls of her feet as if there were no other way to be. And in her moment of shock, she asked dumbly, "... Who would ever want to attack Australia?"

"Eden's an island...maybe they're low on resources or something and taking over a nearby continent seems pretty appealing? Just like the Japanese attacks on China during World War II," Ryan replied to Dianna's inquiry, concern for the situation plastered all over his face. Holy hell, an attack on Sidney? In 48 hours? Ryan had signed up to help Bellamy make the world a more tolerable place for post-humans, not fight some all-out war against an entire nation of post-human supremacists. Were they expected to intervene? How could a rag-tag handful of young mutants make any difference if they actually were expected to fight? "This is nuts," he said in response to his internal dialogue.

"Of course it is," Charlotte quipped in response to Bellamy's answer. The vulnerability she'd shown before completely wore off, and she crossed her arms. She was slightly annoyed she'd been concerned at all. This place was a circus, and their always had to be at least one clown. Maybe she was bitter because he knew why she was here, and bringing up the subject now after he'd just rolled across the floor would be inappropriate. She'd have the chance to torture more answers out of the flower boy later.

"I hate to be the human of the group," Charlotte said, finally distancing herself from the punk mutant, "but what is Eden's Island.. and who exactly are 'they'?" Another possible breaking story. She'd go from coffee girl to reporter in no time! They'd be begging her to sit opposite Jerry Bloomingdale and his freaky hair piece! "Doesn't it seem a little drastic to attack Sidney for supplies?" She looked at Ryan from the corner of her eye.

((FYI, guys: It's spelled Sydney smile ))

As though from a distance, Artemisia heard her own voice saying in a tone of eerie calm, "I agree with Charlotte. Attacking Sydney makes no tactical sense. Eden is a nation of gods, all capable of bending the laws of nature to their whims in their individual ways. It's unlikely they can't provide for themselves. And if they had truly been short on resources, they would have run out long before now." She paused, then added, "Australia's natural resources, at least in the way of fuel and technology, are also quite limited compared to...others they may have chosen to target instead."

While her mouth spoke, she wondered why she was taking it all so calmly. She remembered in vivid detail the things her parents had told her about Eden, though she herself had few memories of her own about Omni's island. And the devastation of the Seven Day's War could easily be repeated. But it was all so far away, so surreal--it hardly felt like it was happening.

Dianna quietly scoffed and frowned at Charlotte when she asked about Eden. "I was trapped in a shut-off-from-the-world hell-hole for nine years, and even I know what Eden is," she drawled lowly, eyes averted somewhere just below and to the right of where Isaac's head had been resting a minute before. And while she did feel guilty for harboring ill will toward the girl for her mindless comment upon her introduction the night prior and her apparent fear over being in the presence of multiple metahumans, or whatever word that girl may prefer, even a little worry that she wasn't much helping in the way of easing the fear, the sharpness of her easy "human of the group" comment, and the false self-deprecation within the quip... well, it pressed buttons that reminded her all too readily of her family, a set of people far worse to her subconscious than even the scientists had been.

A little disappointed with herself, and mostly with the girl, she pushed off her knees and worked her way to outside the knot of people, childishly ruminating on how many shades of pink that woman would turn if she knew how horribly offensive she was and had the tables turned on her, and on how short she imagined such a self-centered mind would've lasted in the facility she'd spent near half her own life in. She crossed her arms though as her mind mutinied itself and suggested that such focus (and such a propensity for playing oneself as the victim) may be useful traits for one forced to live in a game of "Win or Die" with no guarantee of escape, companionship, or pity. May even have made Dia's own life easier if she'd really wanted to go back to being a homeless runaway. Listen to me, she chided internally, Making light of my capture for the sake of what? Demeaning some airhead? again, she scoffed, trying to work back into her usual cheer, though the sombre mood pervading the room did little to help.

Instead she frowned deeper, feeling what little of scabs that had formed on her face crackle around her grimace. "Omni's supposed to be smart, right? Is Australia a political threat at least?" she suggested, scrambling for a reason. The whole drama of it confused her. Politics had never really made sense, and with her emotional development more or less getting frozen at ten and only recently beginning to take baby-steps forward again, it wasn't likely to be make any ore sense anytime soon unless explained in simple terms. The animosity between humans and some mutants also bewildered and disturbed her. Her baby brother had been the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen, and before he'd been born, the promise of his existence had brought more joy to her parents than anything she'd ever seen. But even if the few feathers that sprouted from the natural nubs of future wings on his back had overjoyed Dianna, it had been plain they had turned her parents happiness to unbridled horror. They had let him die, let people destroy him, for all she knew, they had helped.

The turnaround was unsettling, and it was only childish faith in the importance of age that she waited the few months to turn ten before escaping with only a backpack of canned vegetables, a pocket knife, and her unbroken piggybank. "I mean, are they usually on good terms, the Kangaroo and Convicts Island and the Island of Insufferable Mutant Supremacists?" While her quick-draw appellations were said playfully, her tone held a purely curious undercurrent, one completely naive to the individual squabbles of countries, mutant or otherwise.

Haeven blinked and listened to everyone, she crossed her arms and tilted her head to one side.

"I...I might can help you with that." She stepped in and looked to Bellamy, "If you can get me something with strong character about the location.. I can gather some information. But if you -REALLY- want to know what their doing then I would have to actually -be- there to relate details. But.. if I have something physical from the site then I could touch it and be able to relate to you what I can gather. To go into further details about their plan, a physical presence would have to be involved.. but by being here I might could get the gist."

She took a deep breath and wrinkled her nose just ever so slightly, "But..." her voice held caution, "I have to tell you that I haven't really learned how to sort through what's past and what is present or what is future.. and images help too. Depending on when the image was gathered. It isn't much, but it's what I have to offer..."

((lol no, it's Sidney! That's the fictional version of Sydney!! wink ))

Ryan looked over at Charlotte, indulging her ignorance. "Eden is an island in the south pacific...a nation of super humans. They're militaristic and generally a bunch of stuck-up jackasses who hate everyone who isn't a mutant. The island was given to them after a seven day war where they essentially beat the piss out of humanity."

Bellamy took Haeven's comment into consideration before speaking. "Regardless of Omni's motives, an attack on a major metropolitan area is not something we can allow. None of us has the strength to stop an entire army of post-humans on their own. Even combined, our strength is not enough to offer even meager resistance to Eden's forces. Our only hope of stopping this invasion is to stop it before it begins. I fear this campaign is the first of many...the true goal of Omni and Eden is the systematic eradication of the human race. Sydney is merely the starting point. But if we can stop them here, we can re-route the course of history."

"Not to be a wet blanket," the punk who had yet to give his name said. "But just how are we going to do that?"

"We're going to kill Omni and his high command," Bellamy said without hesitation. "This team was assembled for just such a purpose. If you're truly with us and you believe in preserving the lives of millions across the world, then you know this is what must be done. We must infiltrated Eden and kill its leaders. Without them, the nation will unravel and mankind will lose the greatest threat to its existence."

"Kill people?!" Dia's expression and body language expressed nothing more than shock, as hard as she tried to feel horror. The part of her brain that had developed to keep her alive in the laboratory saw the logic of it, and her more emotional side felt only the dim simmering burn of desire for delivering petulant comeuppance to jerks who hurt people because they were or weren't normal. Admittedly, she didn't understand the tactic or the reasoning as well as the "stop them before they do anything" logic, but Bellamy, while in charge and sharing very few secrets, seemed certain of what he was doing. Whether she liked it or not, it was pretty thoroughly ingrained to follow the leader, even if the leader was telling her to jump through a flaming hoop or agree to have grenades thrown at her.

There was no part of her psyche that disagreed with the plan of action, but she faintly felt as if there should be. She shook her head, shaking away the certainty that there was something the matter with her reactions to things, and continued, "But how are we supposed to get there unnoticed?" Her gaze drifted over and fell on Lynette, and widened slightly. She raised her hand in gesture, half a question, half absentminded. "Is she supposed to transport people?"

Although Charlotte wasn't fond of Dia (and it seemed the feeling was entirely mutual), she had almost the same reaction to the idea of killing a super human leader who was planning to eradicate the human race. Her mouth fell slightly ajar and her face went pale white. Sure, she had always harbored the idea of offing someone just for the sheer fact that they annoyed her. Like in high school, Charlotte had an elaborate plan for Christine Abberton to choke on the single cracker she ate all day after she'd found out she dared to run against her for prom queen. Despite that there was no plausible way Christine could have won, just the idea that someone would have the nerve to run against her put Charlotte's blood to a boil. Needless to say, Christine lost, is still alive.. and probably still just has one cracker a day.

This, of course, was not a high school prom debate. This included fire breathing mutants who hated humans. This had to be bad; she couldn't even make friends with the ones who didn't mind them. Who was she supposed to be on this team? Did any of them drink coffee? Maybe she was the bait? Why did she always have to assume the worst?

"But.. we haven't all had time to asses our strengths.." she was speaking from a mostly personal view. There had to be a reason she was on this team. She had slunked back to the punk kid. She had more of a relationship with him than anyone in the room. Being closer to him made her feel like she had someone on her team. "When are we.. uh... supposed to carry this out?" She'd lost most of the hostility in her voice again. Now she was just worried.
