Well, a good thing to do once you start, is just walked/ride (if you can get a horse) everywhere. Save your money, because in later levels you'll start finding equipment you'll want. Get your armor and weapons repaired frequently. Also, just try to carry one weapon at a time, unless your character uses bows then ALWAYS carry a bow and a melee weapon, and make sure to have at least 2 types of arrows, like some silver in case you run into a will-o-wisp or anytype of ghost. the rest mainly depends on what type of character you have or like.
