I totally welcome any kind of critiquing on this. I'm having, I've had, and I will always have my doubts on this idea because I'm afraid I wrote it too... childishly. But, yea. I'll let you decide! Here's the prolouge of my newest Naruto fanfiction, Down the Drain and Back Again.

It was a rare occasion that Sasuke ever slacked off on his studies. So rare, in fact, that he wasn’t entirely sure on how one should go about such ‘lollygagging’. He’d done only harmless things, such as day-dreaming and, from time to time, tuning out his older brother—even going as far as to toy with his clothing whenever he wasn’t being watched(no mind paid to the fact that he was breaking rule seven of many: never fidget!)
Though his deeds would earn him no more than a stern glance, Sasuke couldn’t help but feel as if his ‘crimes’ were worthy of death, a single question running through his head: was he really meant to be a child of the great Uchiha’s? Shaking his head, he rid himself of those traitorous thoughts, his sudden movement catching the eye of the man beside him.
“Working hard, otouto?” He questioned solemnly, sharp, stony gaze focusing solely on the younger boy.
Unhappy with the sudden spotlight, Sasuke’s silence and slightly guilt-ridden face gave away his true disposition, his brother immediately informed of his rule-breaking.
“That’s fine,” he spoke, disappointment rolling from his sturdy figure in heavy waves, “it’s time for a break anyway.”
With one final glance at his brother’s unreadable expression, Sasuke pushed himself from the ground, hands dusting off his pants as he stood. “I’m going to take a look around, okay?”
A nod from the other and a quiet “be back soon” was his given response.

*~*

Only one thing was for certain: Sasuke was not to blame for the fact that he had no idea where he had gone. For just about the better half of an hour (he was sure), he’d circled the same group of trees and pointed out the same moss covered stone; everything in the thick, stifling forest was beginning to blend together and it stumped Sasuke to no end.
After weighing his remaining options—use more energy and continue looking or stop for a quick rest in the shade—Sasuke opted on seating himself upon a patch of dry leaves, wondering vaguely if his brother was worried or even aware of his absence.
“Probably not.” He murmured to himself, completely crestfallen as his eyes locked onto the ground beneath him. “Stupid aniki.”
“Well, that wasn’t very nice.” An unexpected and far too cheery voice brought him from despair, his head jerking in every which direction in a desperate attempt to locate the source.
With no such luck, however, he stood quickly, praying his mind had not been playing tricks on him.
“Over here!” The voice spoke again, this time resounding from directly before Sasuke, leading the boy to believe his search was over.
Bringing himself into a frantic sprint, he whirred past tree after tree only to face another, unable to stop the cry of “Wait!” that flew from his mouth. Eventually, after what felt like days of searching unsuccessfully, he paused to think, his frightened, onyx eyes darting around his surroundings for a sign—anything to take him home.
“I’m right here.” Sasuke jumped in shock, one hand resting on the rough bark of a near-by tree, his tongue darting out to moisten his suddenly chapped lips.
“And where might ‘here’ be?” There were a few moments of unbearable silence that passed, his hopes falling to tiny pieces around him. But when he felt a soft, dainty hand lightly take hold of his own, his nerves were once again on edge. “Wait a minute!”
At an almost alarming speed, he was pulled from behind the tree and dragged into a large clearing where the view from the cliff he stood on was frightening yet too amazing to miss.
“Come on.” As he glanced off to his right, Sasuke took notice of the small, fragilely built creature beside him; a woman—her skin looking as if it’d been kissed by the sun, hair as bright as day and her eyes as blue as he sea.
Sasuke felt his heart skip a beat or two, the frenzied butterflies within him causing him to trip over nothing but himself.
“What, uh—or rather ‘who’, I… meant to say, y-you know.” He trailed off upon seeing her smile, eyes lit up with amusement as she took a few steps forward, her hand still grasping Sasuke’s in a gentle grip.
“Come with me, yes?” She spoke, with a delicate voice, Sasuke merely nodding in response as he refused to embarrass himself yet again. “I want to show you something.”
He smiled briefly, his gaze locked onto the beauty beside him as they walked hand in hand toward the aesthetically pleasing horizon. Anxiously, however, he couldn’t help but notice the strange sense of foreboding that settled among his very being; there was something he was forgetting…
“Is it the sunset?” But the nervous feeling fluttering around his gut went ignored as he continued to humor his new friend. “Because it is quite lovely.” She shook her head.
“Is it… the ocean?” he questioned again but she only giggled politely. “Am I close?”
When she placed a finger against his lips, Sasuke felt is slight irritation melt away into silence. As she turned slowly to peer over the ledge, it was then that the boy began to hear a familiar sound make its way through the woods.
“Sasuke!” Came his brother’s voice, giving him reason to turn swiftly in his place.
Suddenly, though, just as he caught sight of Itachi, he realized too late that he had miscalculated his previous steps when the ground beneath him gave way and sent him falling to his death.
“No!” he heard his brother call out, the cry fading away in the distance.
But as he continued to plummet through the air, his mind rather calm in his situation, the voice of another echoed lovingly in his head.
“No matter what, I’ll be here for you. Until death do us part, you are mine.”

Now that I look at it, the ending seems a tad rushed, too... Ehh. Help?

Oh. And I don't own Naruto or any of the show's characters(as I am NOT Kishimoto) and yea. Hopefully that'll satisfy the peoples.
...Heh heh heh.
