Ok, so I've been thinking a bit lately...

I want to know what YOU guys think about/want around here. I know I have the suggestions post but this is a bit different.

I have some questions for you. smile

Nothing too hard, just a way for me (and the crew) to better know how to make this guild what everyone wants it to be, and to know what kinds of things you guys want to see around here. (And crew, feel free to answer these questions as well, of course. I want everyone's input here.)

So, here goes:

1. What contests would you like to see around here?
2. How many contests per month, year, whatever, would you like to see and be willing to participate in?
3. What kind of guildwide events would you like to see? (Holiday events, parties, monthly prompts, etc) Feel free to be extremely specific on this one...like telling us what you would like to see as part of certain guildwide events.
4. How many guildwide events per month, year, whatever, would you like to see and be willing to participate in?
5. How often do you check the subforums? Which ones? If you don't check some at all, why not?
6. Are there any subforums we have that you think should be abandoned or any subforums that we don't have that you would like to see?

Feel free to add any other comments, suggestions, or whatever else as well!

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer this for me!

Love,
Waffles

1. I form no opinion about contests, 'cause I usually don't join them...or notice much really. What about a contest for stuff written in such and such a category, a year ago, or something? Old writing.
2. Frequent (like once every two months). Willing to participate in any without too many limitations; just a little vague inspiration and I'm off.
3. Prompts...Nano...parties are fun but the guild is a bit dead right now, so no. It's no fun with two, three people.
4. These things should be frequent. That's what keeps the guild alive. Or should.
5. I used to be pretty good about checking Works in Progress, Spam, Poetry, and Main. But then...well. No one was reading my stuff, and I stopped liking their stuff (my fault, not theirs, I suppose) so now it's just Spam and Main. But I don't check much with the guild anymore. It seems kind of flat lately. And you know, Waffs, we have that no-one-reads-anything-anymore problem again....
6. Eh. I can't really say at this point :/

The dead/no-one-reads thing is a serious issue. GAH. And this is really humanity in general but no one reads the LONG stuff.../rant. sorry.

Well I'm still pretty new here so I'm just getting the feel of things. I'll do my best 3nodding

1. Creative Writing, if you don't already have them that is. I'm sure you do but I can never find them >.> Maybe like a monthly thing if you have the time, with different levels of difficulty that lead to different levels of valuable prizes. And if help is needed for funds, encourage donations =3
2. Heh, I'm answering these things as I go. Looks like I'm on the same train of thought with you. Well, the frequency of depends on the contest itself. If it's something minor, than once a month is good. But then there can be holiday themed contests where authors write a story that involves the said holiday. I suppose since different countries have different holidays, we can incorporate many different ideas. Non-U.S holiday ideas would have to be submitted and explained to whoever leads the contest well in advance so everyone can learn about it and try to participate. ((i can get back to you on this question...I may come up with more ideas.))
3. LOL...I did it again, answered a question in a previous question. Well, Holiday writing contest is one, but also maybe a best banner submitted contest for every year...or biannually...or whenever. But it would have to be 100% originals, no pics from other artists. Also, maybe have voters choose the best story from one of the subforums (completed works or works in progress) or maybe both of them and have the winner announced. I don't know how often this should happen though. Writing takes time, so does reading, and I'm sure people are busy.
4. This one is kinda answered in #3. But I would like something once a month.
5. Right now, I've only frequented the works in progress. But again, I'm pretty new so frequent may just be once a day. I have no reason to not check others, I'm just working on a story in that forum 3nodding
6. I think you're good on your subforums. Leave 'em alone 3nodding That is unless there is one that hasn't had a post in over a year...But then again, if you're getting new members everyday I wouldn't give up hope on the dead subforum.

Well that's all sweatdrop I hope I was of some help. I know running a guild can be a blessing and a curse xd

1. What contests would you like to see around here?

Hm... Something like, rather than write a full story, 'Write a(n) Beginning, ending, middle, anything' or "Design a character" or "Describe a character as if telling a story". Something that helps us improve individual story aspects.

2. How many contests per month, year, whatever, would you like to see and be willing to participate in?

It just depends. Once a month seems fine. Or, like, every two months.

Something like, "What are your opinions on your favorite character?" Like, describe a character, and the guild rates likability and 'would it make a good story' or 'how mary sue on a scale of 1-10'. mrgreen parties are nice, though a little dry...

4. How many guildwide events per month, year, whatever, would you like to see and be willing to participate in?

Again, depends.

Usually I automatically check the Main and Spam, then Works in Progress. Maybe twice or three times will I check the others in a week.

1. What contests would you like to see around here?

Lots of them. xd I like 'give me a prompt and I'll give a drabble' ones, but really I just like contests.

2. How many contests per month, year, whatever, would you like to see and be willing to participate in?

Maybe two per month? Only more. So's we have Options. Haha. Haha.

3. What kind of guildwide events would you like to see? (Holiday events, parties, monthly prompts, etc) Feel free to be extremely specific on this one...like telling us what you would like to see as part of certain guildwide events.

Monthly prompts would be fun. Or weekly ones. And holiday events. Specificity? Psh!

4. How many guildwide events per month, year, whatever, would you like to see and be willing to participate in?

Er. Probably a lot fewer events than contests? I dunno, I'm a lazy and antisocial person even on the internet, which I think you will agree is impressive.

5. How often do you check the subforums? Which ones? If you don't check some at all, why not?

I check... whatever subforum I've posted in recently. =D

6. Are there any subforums we have that you think should be abandoned or any subforums that we don't have that you would like to see?

*chews on lip*

Naaaaaah.

I'm sorry Captain.. I have been failing recently as Vice.

I am trying.. But I am having issues in reality. Give me time, I will turn it around and see if I can get things running smoothly again.

What?

Um...no. You are most certainly not a failure as a VC.

And thank you, everyone, for answering.

1. I dunno, i've always been a fan of NaNoWrImO and stuff like that. hardcore writing stuff;challenges, speed, fast fingers. more theme contests, or maybe 'write what you're worst at' or 'write about topics you hate but were forced to write on for this contest' contests.
2. maybe one big one per month, so we have plently of time to work on our entries. if i get online in time to find it, i'll probably participate.
3. quizzes, self help sessions, interviews with authors, publishing tips..etc.
4. doesn't really matter. every few weeks perhaps, whenever you think is suitable.
5. i check them every time i'm on gaia. (i don't find new posts very often though...T.T)
6. not really. i would like to see more frequent posting, but i'm kinda being a hypocrite there...

Now i will take the time to selfishly say this: I have a new post coming soon in works in pro. thirst for it. i have finished my novel's prolouge. (now called part one due to length issues X.X)
