No joke. Our tree actually fell down. A TON of our lovely ornaments are smashed. We're all really upset. Especially my sister. She's in a right state. Fortunately no one was hurt and very little damage was done outside the broken ornaments. It was very scary for a minute there. We're being very careful in putting it back up now and making sure it's nice and secure.

At least no one was squashed went it went over. This gives you an excuse to go shopping, though.

Yeah. We're mostly just grateful that no one was hurt. It broke my mom's lamp though, as well as the ornaments. Ah well. Material possessions can always be replaced. We're really glad that there wasn't a lot more damage. It's a big tree!

How long have you had those ornaments, though? Some are hard to get after the years pass.... ~Margem

We have a really tall celling so we like to get tall trees. I think this one is 11 ft.
Some of them are from before I was born! We'll never really be able to replace them, of course. We still don't really know how many we lost. Fortunately it looks like most of the ones that broke were just plain bulbs.

Another good thing: it happened before Christmas (not actually on the day that you were celebrating the holiday)! Could you imagine the horror and sadness of your Christmas tree falling down on Christmas day?! gonk crying
Well, I hope that most of the decorations that have been around are salvageable or at least that you're able to find ones to "replace" them.... ~Margem

Ours did that too, and we only had about a six- or seven-foot tree. It's gone now, because trying to find a way to make it stay was too much trouble. Nothing broke, but it was pretty noisy.

We had this problem last year ~ and all of our old decorations got smashed, ones that have been handed down. Its quite sad really, but at least its only a few decorations and not anyone's legs or anything...

I'm sorry about your decorations. I think only about 10 of our really nice ones broke. Which is still awful, but a lot better than I had feared. I'd definitely rather have broken decorations that limbs.
