I was listening to a talk on CD called 'The Doctrine and Covenants, Patterns for Revelations" and one of the things the speaker (Sister Woodger) talked about was how dreams can be revelation in our day, which I thought was SO cool, since I have recently had a lot of dreams, etc.
These are things she's gotten, gathered. etc from the Brethren. I'm quoting exactly what she said from now on.
1. Dreams from the Spirit will always be symbolic. It's like reading the book of revelation or Isaiah. Once and a w hile you'll get a direct warning but even those are usually symbolic, it's like going to the temple. The spirit teaches through symbols in dreams. 2. Dreams from the spirit will be highly detailed. You can tell what people are wearing, what they said, colors are vivid. There is massive detail that can be remembered when you wake. 3. When you awake from an inspirational dream, you will feel the spirit. There will be a wonderment that you have just experienced something that is significant. 4. I get from Elder Richard G Scott one tome when he shared a fenominal dream about trying to find his diseased wife in the spirit world. He said that dreams from t he lord usually take place in the space between sleep and wakefulness. When we are in that inbetween state is when the lord usually gives revelation. I suggest if you recieve a dream and you wonder if it is inspiration from Heavenly Father that you simply get on your knees and ask questions, like Nephi did "What did the tree prepresent? W hat was the rod of iron? It is appropriate for you to ask for the interpretatoin. It is also appropriate to tell others and ask for their interpretation, like Nebuchadnezzar and Joseph Smith. The gift of dreams and interpretation of dreams go hand in hand.
End quote.
I thought that was so cool... Whacha all think?

It ultimatly makes me happy that the proper authorities confirm what member already know from reading and what we have in our heats. It's like that general conference talkl on guardian angels.

It's very true. I personally love dreams, and think they are usually symbolic, although rarely inspiration. Know it happens, though.

I always think my dreams have some meaning to them. Once i had a dream where everyone fell into financial problems (thats i thought it was) and then like a month later the U.S. fell into a bad financial state.

I love having lucid dreams. But I have only ever had a few. By the way A lucid dream is one in which you are aware you're dreaming and you can control events that take place to some or even to fullest extent.

It is very very important to pray about the meaning of a Dream. Satan can still influence how you interpret a Dream so be very careful and make sure the Dream truly is from God and that you pray for the right guidance to take from it.

most of my dreams just have a combination of different things. I don't particularly remember having a revelatory dream.

I've had dreams in the past that were as normal as anything I deal with during the day...and then I have noticed that stuff very similar happened when I was awake to what the dream was...if that makes sense
I dunno if I'd call that 'revelation'....the fact that the dream was almost exactly, if not exactly like what I remember happening outside of the dream..lol...but it certainly made me think for a bit

I love dreams. I have received a personal revelation in my dreams once, but all of them seem so realistic I get confused when I wake up. Takes me a moment to realize what was the dream and what is reality. Now, interestingly, my dreams have been about children, mainly a little boy and occasionally his little sister. o.O
