I have had my share of jokes about how if I entered a Chinese restaraunt on Christmas Morning I could probably lead a Shaharit service with a full minyan.
I just got back from Christmas up north with my family, though, and it was awesome! I hate to admit it, but I totally love decorating the tree every year (I left the Crosses and nativity ornaments off of it this year, though).

Tonight is the last night of Hanukkah. How was Hanukkah for everyone? I knid of forgot my Hnaukkiah, candles, and dreidels when I went to celebrate Christmas, but the beginning and end of Hanukkah were pretty cool for me. I found it hard to get past the commercialization, though. It just really didn't feel like Hanukkah once I'd come back and run out of presents and was just lighting candles and saying blessings. I did sing Mi Yimalel a lot, though.

Oh, yeah, and I wanted to add an ironic note:
My family just finished lighting Hanukkiot after dinner, which was Chinese takeout by pure coincidence.
But, pleaese, ponder and be insightful about my first questions on the post.

The first thread I ever made in the JGG and I've brought it back to life, so to speak.

Back then you wore a big brown coat, hat and glasses on your avatar. Distant times, eh?

ωσσℓιє says "^_^ Ah, I forgot Channukah was so close with all the exams and coursework going on at school at the moment. It's so good to know that there'll be a break, with Channukah fast approaching."

I'm Israeli and we do celebrate Hanukkah, but we're not that religious. We do light the Hanukia... and sing and eat =D But we don't pray the long prayer.
Here in Israel, we don't get any special gift for Hanukkah ^^" I guess you get them in America so you don't feel bad for Chtrismas.
But man! Lately a Muslim person asked me about Hanukkah and I told him about the miracle and he said, "Yeah, riiiiight. If that happened for real, maybe because there was Oxygen (Can't spell ._.) or something" BLUH BLUH BLUH. He made me SO angry!
