If you want to take your character or even the plot in a bold new direction...go for it! We are always up for new ideas for roleplay and directions in which to take the plot.
Please do PM Jyoti or Wraith Sian if you want to do something that will radically affect the game's main plot, for obvious reasons...that, and there's a very good chance the GMs and NPCs can work with you to help you implement your idea. Sub plots, side quests, and so on are pretty much always okay...just go for it.
Oftentimes, if you let us know what you're planning, even if it is just a sub plot or side quest, we can help you will planning and implementation, as well as let others know about it so they can be involved. Plus, we can let you know about some setting information that may help you out!
If you have something in mind, you can PM Jyoti or Wraith Sian with your ideas and/or intentions, and we can start working on it right away!

[ How to set up a plot ]
1. Read the rules (below) and make sure you follow them.
2. PM Wraith Sian detailing your ideas and what you would like to do.
3. Jyoti will contact you via PM and set up methods of further discussion. Plots may be discussed in the plotting subforum, but there may need to be additional discussion via PM, Skype, etc. if important plot details may be revealed.
4. After all the mechanics and such are set, the plot will be given a time frame.
5. You have now set up a plot!
[ Hard and fast rules to plot creation ]
1. Your character must be at Level One or higher to set up a metaplot.
2. Magic is off-limits.
This is for a reason. If you have an AMAZING idea that involves magic (this includes spirituality, mysticism, etc. to an extent), then you may ask Jyoti about it, but be aware that there is a good chance it may be changed or not allowed.
3. Please browse the atlases for information about the current state of countries in the Lotusian world.
If you are utilizing a country in your ideas, please ensure that you do not change 'facts' about this country. Note that there are many, many countries that are not present in the atlases, and may countries that are present have entries that are rather sparse. If you have ideas about country creation, please see this thread.
3. You may create NPCs to help you in implementing your plot.
However, please do not create NPCs in important positions (leaders of countries, high-ranking LOTUS members, etc) without first talking to Jyoti. Also, please do not create NPCs with strong relationships to important NPCs, such as a long-lost half-brother of Shee.
