I wont express it as a goal. Because you cannot seek it. When you seek it, you wont't find. You have to find enlightment without seeking it. I think Siddhartha is a good idea, because it brings the thought very close to the reader.

An older Man at my church had an Awakening once, he was doing contemplative prayer, which is like christian meditation, he said he was outside and then in like a split things all faded away and he could not even see himself and he felt like he was apart of everything around him, that is the best he could describe it

I have been doing a lot of reading and I'm confused about how exactly do I become enlightened. Do I need to supress my emotions hard enough that my sense of self is eliminated (if that actually happens, or is possible)Do I need to do something else. I think I need direction because if I know what I need to do do reach enlightenment then I will do it but I do't know what to do.
