o2. The Old World
Note:Common where refered to as Human in old world Kannavahmen. It's only since the advent of Communion that the term 'Common began to be used to describle...Common-kind.

In contemporary Kannavahmen there is very little known about the 'Old World'. What is known is usually misinterpreted or vague guesses leading to completely ludicrous concepts.
In truth, the Old Word was essentially earth (or even Gaia if you like) as we know it today, or perhaps slightly in the future. The people of Old World Kannavahmen lived a modern person's life style - they abused the planet and abandoned the old gods and replaced the with a single God.
But what the modern world with all of it's wisdom and pride didn't realise was that all the while the Creator of Gods, Zazzar, was beginning to loose patients with the Humans that populated Old World Kannavahmen. He had entrusted this world to one of his own creations with the intention of gaining subjects in return, but had been betrayed both by his Creation and the inhabitants of world.
So Zazzar gave an ultimatum. He offered the population of Kannavahmen 100 years to take him as their God and begin to care for the planet. But in the spirit of the modern Human kind, Zazzar's proposal was viewed as something trival and the ravings of a mad man (the prophet Zazzar used was eventually sedated with medications and kept in a mental institute after several suicide attempts and a lot of raving).
Thus, the 100 years pasted and nothing had changed in the way Humans interacted with their god and their world. Zazzar, keeping his word of 'clean up your act or else' came to Old World Kannavahmen and spoke through the body of a person be believed to hold great power in the world - a musician.
He gave the people one last chance - submit to him or die. Of course, this wasn't taken well, and nor did it end well. Zazzar, in furry, sent a plague to wipe out the human population of Old World Kannvahmen. This plague ravvaged the Old World for severla centuries, until all but a few nomadic groups were left. It was at this time that Zazzar began to recreate Kannavahmen.
Essentially what happened was a speeding up of the natural movement of the land masses, causes them to move what would have taken millennia in decades. It was approx. 340 years after the first day of the Plague that Zazzar began to remove the sickness from the world and the Kannavahmen that we know began. Because of the speed at which things happen, the climate of this transitional Kannavahmen was dramatic and unpredictable, causing the extinctions of a wide range of fauna and flora, but also the creation of several strange species.

o3. The New World
Offically New World Kannavahmen began 400 years after Zazzar's plague killed of the majority of the Human race. I say majority, because not all were killed off - nomadic tribes and secluded populations survived the sickness and began to repopulate the world quickly after the recreation period finished.
The Kannavahmen we know is set in the 9th Century after recreation. The Common have recreated a society that I supose could be classes as slightly steam punk - it's industrial era at first glance, but there are elements of much further advanced technology. This is because much of what the Common use is recycled from the past - there were buildings and records left behind from the almost extinction of the Old World people. The New World Common believe these items to be the remanents of an advanced and aliean culture, not a past incarnation of them selves.
The New World Common have modelled their culture around these relics of the past, leading to a hybrid culture full of moral and heretical contradictions (the information they use ranges the whole spectrum of Human society, form ancient Egyptian texts, renaissance era science publications to (our world) contemporary Medical Journals).

Old World vs. New World
What is the Old World/New World
The old world is essentially an AU earth. The main different between RL earth and Kannavahmen earth is the existence of demons and other spirity stuff. It's completely different in Kannavahmen then it is on human world. I'll explain any of this if people ever want it, but it's not really reliant.
Old world has electricity, plastics, Bush and all that sort of stuff. Then one day everything went to s**t and the Gods decided they'd break everything down and start again. No one knows what exactly they did, but whatever it was wiped out almost all life. Think Post Apocalypse sort of thing. This is the start of 'The New World'. Humans become 'The Common', the remnants of the demons become The Garrion (and some other off shoots that aren't involved in this project) and the Celph...well they were around in the Old World and never got wiped out.
All that is left of the past are old written documents and some buildings. Things aren't in the right place since the continues where effectively rejoined and split again. It happened over several million years.
This is why Kannavahmen is so harsh - it's a recycled world...The left overs of the 21st century really. Resources are limited and the climate is a b***h (but this is mostly because the continents are in dumb places geographically speaking, causing extremes)
