This is the Ameture Lawyer Thread, ITT we discuss legal loopholes and ramafications of actions to better plan our lives and of course fit into the stereotype that the Jews control the courts.

Lets start with the what can POSSIBLY go wrong section of doing something.

For example, the great and wonderful sword question.

Legal Ramifications in Massachusettes of possessing an illegal weapon, specifically a type of weapon that has been deemed VERBOTEN

Whoever, except as provided by law, carries on his person, or carries on his person or under his control in a vehicle,
any stiletto, dagger or a device or case which enables a knife with a locking blade to be drawn at a locked position,
any ballistic knife, or any knife with a detachable blade capable of being propelled by any mechanism,
dirk knife, any knife having a double-edged blade, or
a switch knife, or any knife having an automatic spring release device by which the blade is released from the handle,
having a blade of over one and one-half inches, or a slung shot, blowgun, blackjack, metallic knuckles or knuckles of any substance which could be put to the same use with the same or similar effect as metallic knuckles,
nunchaku, zoobow, also known as klackers or kung fu sticks, or any similar weapon consisting of two sticks of wood, plastic or metal connected at one end by a length of rope, chain, wire or leather,
a shuriken or any similar pointed starlike object intended to injure a person when thrown,
or any armband, made with leather which has metallic spikes, points or studs or any similar device made from any other substance or a cestus or similar material weighted with metal or other substance and worn on the hand,
or a manrikigusari or similar length of chain having weighted ends; or whoever,
when arrested upon a warrant for an alleged crime, or when arrested while committing a breach or disturbance of the public peace, is armed with or has on his person, or has on his person or under his control in a vehicle, a billy or other dangerous weapon other than those herein mentioned and those mentioned in paragraph (a), shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than two and one-half years nor more than five years in the state prison, or for not less than six months nor more than two and one-half years in a jail or house of correction, except that, if the court finds that the defendant has not been previously convicted of a felony, he may be punished by a fine of not more than fifty dollars or by imprisonment for not more than two and one-half years in a jail or house of correction.

This is why most places that sell martial arts weapons have a disclaimer that says "WILL NOT SHIP TO MASSACHUSETTS"

And... this is why I'm a republican, yeah 2nd ammendment isn't just for guns!

However M.G.L. Chap 269 Sec 10 doesn't mention anything about, hammers, axes, pole arms, swords or anything like that.

I've brought a Katana into a police station asking for a "Permit" form to possess it, and the cop said, "you don't need a permit, it's single edged and has a locking sheath, it's legal."

Most city's and states have a roster of "approved weapons"

And that my friends is a legal loophole.

Would you happen to know the laws on weapons for the county of Denbighshire, North Wales? Specifically, the small town of Prestatyn.

Great, now anyone on this forum who wants to find me just has to look for a Jewish teenage boy with a surname enging in S in a town with a population of 10,000 in a non-Jewish area...

I might as well advertise my location with neon lights!

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1996/Ukpga_19960026_en_1

Offensive Weapons Act 1996
1996 CHAPTER 26

which adopts the Firearms and Offensive Weapons act of 1990 definetion of an offensive weapon.

9.—(1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), where a person has with him in any public place any knife or any other article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed, he shall be guilty of an offence.

( 7 ) ( a ) A person guilty of an offence under subsection (1) shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months or to both.

The 1996 thing basically says they don't need a warrant to search you if they believe you have a sharp pointy metal thing on your person.

So... how's that Nanny State workin for ya?

Quote:
(4) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (3) above, it shall be a defence for a person charged with an offence under subsection (1) or (2) above to prove that he had the article or weapon in question with him—

(a) for use at work,
(b) for educational purposes,
(c) for religious reasons, or
(d) as part of any national costume.

Can I claim that I need a certain weapon because of religious purposes? I think this one's for Divash.

*mutter* Britain would be better with a constitution....

You're not Sikh, nor an Asatru Pagan. Jews don't tend to have "sacremental blades" save the moyel, which tend to be both sterile and disposable one use only scalpels.

So unless you open a lot of boxes at work, teach fencing or work as the Queen's Guard. I think you're SOL on this one.

And while we're at it...

http://www.sundaymercury.net/news/midlands-news/2008/12/14/store-bosses-fear-star-wars-toy-could-be-mistaken-for-firearm-66331-22469862/

Yes that's right, Woolworths has decided that Light Sabres are too "realistic" and can only be sold to people above 18 as they might be mistaken for firearms.

but wait, there's more on the Nanny State's war on Xmas

http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/75739

Dorothy Glenn decorates her home with illuminations every year, including a giant tree and a 4ft Santa.

But this year she was stunned when a housing association worker called at her house and told her that the decorations she was displaying might be offending her neighbours.

The mother of three said at her home in South Shields, Tyneside: “I put the lights up in the first week of November and then recently a uniformed housing worker was outside and it looked like he was counting my decorations.

“When I went outside he said that the lights were ‘offensive to the community.’

So... lets discuss the legality and reasonablility of these two cases.

Disclaimer:
I'm not a lawyer, nor is anyone else in this guild, to my knowledge. None of us have earned the right to deliver authoritative legal opinions. I am also not a rabbi, nor is anyone else in this guild, and we have therefore not earned the right to deliver authoritative halachic (Jewish religious-legal) opinions.

That said, no, you don't get to carry a weapon by virtue of being Jewish. If you want the ability to defend yourself, take up krav maga.

It's okay. Woolworths just went bust. My mate just got a job there, but he's been made redundant like a week later. Bummer, eh?

Oh, and can you stop calling it a Nanny State? Sure, it's been anti-semetic in the past, and it's stupid as hell, but it took my family in and gave us refuge from a horrible end. so i kinda owe Britain something, even if it's manners.

Yes but Divash, it is a learning experience and a way to interpret things. Such as it is, Judaism has a lot of laws which we sometimes discuss and talk about in the main guild, and since we're all from different places we all have a differnet penal code, which we can discuss openly to better understand the laws of our own land as well as learning of other peoples cultures through their laws

I mean, the only differnece between the Talmud and the Penal Code is one is enforceable by the rule of Law and one is a self dicipline which we enforce on our own, to ourselves.

And I don't see how Christmas lights are racist. Or how a Jedi plastic lightsaber is a dangerous firearm. That's just ridiculous.

The point I was making with that was that the British Government has gotten to a point where the society isn't ruled by "Big Brother" anymore, but by the "Even Bigger Mother," or as it is commonly known as a "nanny state," where the government makes sure that if anyone does anything that may happen to bother someone's beliefs or ethics, they have to pass a law to stop it.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1094807/Sally-Army-told-stop-rattling-collecting-tins--offend-religions.html

For 130 years they have been part of Christmas, filling the air in towns across the land with music and carols.

But one thing is missing from the repertoire of Salvation Army bands this year - the percussion of rattling tins.

Members have been forbidden to shake their charity tins - even if it's done in time to the music - in case it harasses or intimidates people. One said she had been told it might also offend other religions.

---

Yeah there's a story like that almost every day in the British News.

PC is stupid, I admit, but stop calling the country that saved my family A F***ING NANNY STATE.
Sorry...

Speaking of Big Brother, I can see a lovely tower block next to my house. A great example of Brutalistic architecture. It's called Trellick Tower.

Which British News? We have the Daily Mail's, the NewsOfTheWorld's, the Observer's, the Guardian's... Etc. And then we have BBC news, ITV news, Channel 4 News... I trust BBC the most, I suppose. I'm cynical of everything but the BBC. I like 'em. :p

The only ones there that report the PC stories are the Daily Mail's (which supported Hitler 65 years ago) and the NewsOfTheWorld[/celebrities]...

Speaking of Brutalist architecture, ever seen Boston City Hall?

Probably, but I was 10 when I last visited Boston. It does seem to loom somewhat. I can imagine it's quite scary Mid-winter during a thunderstorm.

It looks like it's about to transform into a comic-book hero robot from Mars...
