 Karmix had his head down, paws to the earth running low, pounding against the hard sun baked ground as he ran through the savana brush. Ears perked for sounds though he kept his tail low ever alert..
For once he couldnt understand why he was running, he had always found a joy in it, the movement so simple and free it flowed with him. Today though..for some reason it just didnt bring any joy. He was lonely as much as he hated to admit it he craved some sort of attention, some belonging..hah..as if that existed.
Snorting mocking himself even as he slowed his pace, tongue lawling out of his mouth slightly as he stood there panting, surveying his surroundings slowly..

 'Greetings.'
Though the trees were scarce and mostly bare in this region, the branches were sturdy enough to hold a full-grown Helix...at least the lower branches. It was in one such tree on one such branch that Soyala was currently perched. She'd been intent on taking a nap with the added safety of altitude, but instead her senses had picked up the arrival of this stranger.
'I do not mean to startle or alarm,' she added with a polite smile. 'Merely extending my greetings, from one Helix to another.'
Her reclined pose appeared relaxed and at ease, but of course, few could afford to genuinely be as such in this harsh environment. Still, no need to be rude.

Karmix perked his head up ears flat as he steadied himself, staring up into the tree above him, trying not to show his startled nature. The female had been so quiet he hadnt even noticed her there...
"Not startled.." he muttered softly, eying here as he paced quietly before moving to sit just below the tree, the need to feel catious fleeing as the female was so..oddly polite.."Greetings then..and does a name come along with these greetings?" he smiled slightly an odd looking expression on his face. "I'm karmix"

Soyala smiled, not missing a sign. You didn't get to be an Alpha without good powers of observation. Not that she'd say a word.
'Good, as that was not my original intention.' Slowly and gracefully, the female Alpha stood and stretched before leaping from the branch and landing lightly on the sandy earth. Her tail swayed gently as the only outward sign of keeping her balance. She took a seat, her posture dignified, but non-threatening. 'Of course. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Karmix. I am Soyala.'
She studied the male discretely, looking at any number of quiet clues such as coat color/luster, general health, behavior...and a countless number of other things probably only known to the Alphess. He was strong, healthy...reasonably confident. However, as highly ranked as he might be, she sensed just a touch of hesitation at her presence. Most likely, a beta then.

He watched her, graceful sleek, all the power of a killer under the command and control of a female..she was obviously a leader, above him in rank and status. He admired her, and yet felt a bit of fear knowing what he was up against. He returned her easy smile, giving her a slight bow as she introduced herself, his tail curling about his forepaws as his ears twitched lightly.
"Soyala..its an interesting name" it was beautiful as was she but he would not dare to say such things. "It's nice to meet you, to meet someone out here." he knew when hed come hed wandered into a land that was meant for solitude..looking for those similar to himself, hed never imagined hed find anyone though.
He let out a light yawn, bearing his fangs as he stretched his slightly, dragging his claws across the dirt. "Tell me, do you always speak to strangers with such confidence, or was there something more you were looking fore" if shed never spoken up hed probably have never seen her, maybe she was just friendly, then again it could always be something more.

'A pleasure, Karmix,' she responded softly with a slight dip of her head. A touch of sadness in her expression, she continued, 'There are so few in such a large area that meetings are scarce here in the West. It would be a shame to let an opportunity to converse with another pass by without taking hold of it. At least, that is what I believe.'
Of course, conditions hadn't been much better in the North. The only difference seemed to be that here it was hot and dry while there it was cold and damp. The scarcity of other Helixes was a uniting factor.
She watched the dark male for a moment, picking up on something he'd said earlier. 'I take it you have met few others here yourself, Karmix? Myself, I could probably count my acquaintances here on one paw,' she joked lightly, testing to see if the male would open up a bit with some casual conversation.

"I suppose it would, I guess I'm just thankful that you found me worth conversing with" he chuckled slightly noting the sadness in her voice, it truly was a vast area and so easy to travel for miles without seeing anyone. Still he enjoyed the solitude and the golden endless tall grass..
Perking up ears twitching slightly as he nodded "I've met no one so far, not that I haven't enjoyed my time here..I suppose I picked a bad place to search for company" the quiet wolf shrugged in his own way, hunching shoulders and fur back. At least she had acquaintances to count.."Maybe I could be added to that paw then." the male actually smiled extending his friendship, he found soyala friendly warm even after talking to her a bit.

Soyala nodded solemnly, glancing out at the savannah. 'The West is a large place. Good for solitude, if that is what you seek...but there is companionship if you look hard enough for it. The more you have to work for it, the more you learn to appreciate the relationships that you manage to create.' She smiled, thinking of her connections here in this barren land.
She was silent for a bit, though the slightest hint of a smile crossed her muzzle at Karmix's last statement. 'Perhaps. If you would like to be, of course. I would never refuse another acquaintance, especially in such a lonely land. And perhaps I could add some acquaintances to your paws some time if you wish to branch out a bit.' She smiled warmly now, the male now bearing witness to the Alpha's true nature, the one that hid beneath the icy exterior many believed her to have.

((lawls sorry for the long awaited reply, school hit me hard with tests..and the renisance fair..-shifty eyes- Hurray for my bday though! yay! -cheers-)
Karmix was caught of guard by the friendliness of her smile, the warmth and ease with which she offered up friendship and the opportunity at making more companions. Grinning himself, feeling foolish for seeming so happy over something so simple, still he felt honored to be considered as a friend to her, a possible companion.
"I would enjoy that, I suppose I should be willing to meet new people shouldnt I?" what was a wolf without a pack anyways, without companions, just some mangy loner scrapping from meal to meal, endless lonely wandering. Did he truly want that..no of course he didnt want that, he wanted a life. Shy or not quiet or not he would make friends, and would gladly take up her offer. "I take it, one such as yourself, you have quite a few acquaintances" did she already have a pack, if she did their scent did not mar hers, powerful as she was he doubted that any group smell would linger on her pelt.

((Hee hee...no worries! I needed to take a computer break for a couple days myself. And happy -belated- birthday! <3 ))

Soyala nodded slightly, her attention back on Karmix now. 'I have made a few,' she admitted, 'though friendly faces seem to be few and far between here in the West. Not very different from the North, as a matter of fact. Just a lot warmer.' She chuckled softly at the understatement. 'Still, those connections I have made are treasured ones. My intention is to find others like myself that desire only to find a place to belong. A place that is not so much a location, but a group where the members care for one another as a family, regardless of blood connection or lack thereof.'
Her eyes were kind, softening as she spoke of her dream and her small-but-growing pack. They were her family, more than any she might have had in the North where she was born, and future members would be welcomed as long-lost relatives.
'We're a small group now,' she admitted softly, 'but hopefully we will draw others with similar dreams. I have met a few others and extended an invitation to them if they choose to accept.'
