I've been using hair clips to keep my hair up now for a few years. However, they'd invariably break in my hair - I'd have to throw them away and get new ones.
I decided that enough was enough.
After some experimentation, I came up with a method of making hair sticks. It's not all that fancy, but it works.
I started with a piece of elm branch, about as big around as a pencil and about seven inches long. I cut off the bark, tapered the end to a point, a sanded it smooth. So far it's worked really well.

I got a thick, curly mass of hair. Hairsticks never keep it up for me =/
But this seems neat biggrin

I have a pair of hairsticks somewhere, but I have absolutely NO IDEA how to use them to put up my hair. I'm actually getting pretty fed up of putting my hair in braids or leaving it down, cause it gets knotty really easily, and I'd love to be able to cut down on that without taking any length off of my hair.

I've gotten my hair thinned many times before, and I like it the way it is, thick. I just want to cut down on the tangles a bit from the hair underneath that rubs against my clothes and knots when I leave my hair down. Hence the hairsticks.
@Syera I go on YouTube all the time, and I can never figure out why I always forget to reference it when I need a How-To razz thanks!
