***Warning spoilers give away.***
The incident of the plane crash is correct and the part about the drinking and hanging out with the two young woman is indeed correct. But, I'm am not sure about what took place during the malfunction.... sweatdrop
In the Manga there was a terminal illness that took a hold of the body and shut it down which, was the given decision for a prosthetic body unfortunately....

The major was in a plane crash in the anime, and a terminal illness in the manga. No one ever said she never lived in Germany, until you crazy people!! =P
Question:
Was the supposed German accent in the English dub or the Japanese version?

Kitanna Saburi Kashikiri Kitanna Why did she get a prostheic (sp) body? Yeah I know she was sick but what did she have that would push it to go that far at such a young age? This one I can answer! ^^ * SPOILERS AHEAD!* When the Major was 6 years old, she was involved in a plane crash, there were only 2 survivors.. Motoko herself ( well obviously ^^; ) ...and a young boy. Motoko was in a coma for a while..and soon it turned out that the damage was really bad and her life hung in the balance.. a prosthetic body was pretty much the only option Motoko had..otherwise she would of died that day. Im not sure if this is just the anime version of why she got her prostetic or the accepted version. I think that in the manga she had a illness that cause her body to shut down sort of like a degenerative disease and again the prosthetic was her only choice. But I don't really know for sure its just something I picked up in forums. Well I know that the one in the anime is where she had the plane crash.. I'm not too sure on the one in the manga.. although my sis might know ^^; I sall that eppisode. The one were younge motoko was making paper cranes.
