Now here's an interesting website!

My family is doing this (making gifts) this Christmas, and it's really fun so far. Actually, after watching the videos, I couldn't think of a single thing I wanted for Christmas.

I love that people are aware of this kind of thing and trying to do something about it. Just imagine how much could change if everybody did this... biggrin

I made presents for my family in art class last year. I had a lot of fun, and it was great. I think more people should do it.

That's great. I haven't quite gotten there yet, but I'm trying to get less materialistic. I've found that if you think more about Jesus on Christmas, you have less time to worry about physical desires. I started making home-made boxes this year, it's amazing what you can do with some ingenious folding and a piece of construction paper.

As I've gotten older, my presents have gotten more and more expensive. And small. Like mp3 players and digital cameras. But I always loved to have that big pile of loot on Christmas morning, and unwrapping it and finally getting to see what the heck was in there. And I thought about this when I was telling my mom what I wanted for Christmas, and then I told her, "You know what? You could just wrap up a bunch of stuff that I already have, and I'd still be happy as a clam." She looked at me like I was insane, but it's the honest truth. I just like having stuff to unwrap, even if it were like... a moldy sock or something.

LOSER: That's such a good idea! I should've done that! xD

I'm also trying to get less materialistic. Some of my non-Christian relatives gave me a portable bubble-wrap thing that's apparently just like bubble wrap... it's kind of pointless. Next year I'm just going to make an Oxfam Unwrapped wishlist.
