So yeah, i know were more geared towards reading, but I've always wanted to know what you guys think "Makes" a movie a good one. For me it's four factors:
Music, Filming, (camera angle, style and what not) Script, (including, voice and storyline) Actors
the acting can be like so awesome and everything, but if the music doesn't fit, the movie makes no sense at all. It's normally the music that sets the scene and therefore can make a good movie.
What are your thoughts?

I agree with you, dragon. The music and actors basically make the movie for me. I think you have to have the right actors,in the sense of there experiance in the area of the movie.(E.g.Hugh Grant for Romantic Comedy,Brendan Fraser for Fantasy, etc, etc.) I have, personally, never seen a bad movie on my part. The Bond movies combine all the factors that make a movie amazing, thus making them one of the most famous movies ever.

For me, it's:
The Music: I am a classical music fanatic, (i think that modern "music" is straying too far away from the actual term; it's changed to a load of people shouting profanities into a microphone, where 1. you can't hear even what they're saying and 2. it has no melody).
I find that, especially in modern movies, if the music does not go with the theme, i cannot concentrate on what's actually happening. I think that every fantasy movie should have a good, strong piece of dramatic classical orchestra.
(Also, i was shocked to hear something like the new Twilight movie had used Debussy's Claire de Lune- what an abuse of a good impressionist piece!!!)
The Casting: Not much to be said on this one. It's self-explanatory.
The Acting: If the actors are rubbish, there's not much point of the movie.
If the movie is from the book, STICK TO THE BOOK'S VERSION!!! I am so sick of directors who cannot produce a good movie when everything's already laid out for them. I appreciate that sometimes it's difficult to CAST the characters perfectly (for example, not everyone can just chance upon an actress perfect for the role of, let's say, Arya in Eragon), but sometimes they don't even stick to the plot, and cut out parts of the story that are vital if they are going to make a second movie!! Whoever directed the Eragon movie messed it up completely.

Muse: I agree.
Liani: I agree about the book thing as well, the only movie that I liked that came from a book was Holes, mainly because the Author actually wrote the script so it was like right on with the book pretty much.

Remember that the screenplay is important, too. However, what makes a movie truly great is the director; you can have the best script, great actors, and impressive cinematography, but if the director doesn't know what he's doing, it's all for nothing.

right, acting in a general. Director is true, he visualizes the movie. Filming... the best movies are those that don't use tripods, the cameras move with the angle of the character, Bourne trilogy, Eagle Eye, Behind Enemy Lines, you feel as though, you're actually there, looking in on the scene.

Tuck Everlasting (Never saw it but, heard it was extreamly well done) Harry Potters (Most of the movies are good.) Narnia (Makes a really good movie disney is doing good with the movies.)
I think these make the best movies because the acting and the scripts and how well it follows books (If the movie is based on a book) But music helps a lot because if there was no music it wouldn't get you into the mood of the scene. Special effects help the movies turn out good too.

It really takes a combination of all of those aspects to make a good movie.... not just one thing....
