i've gone through two girlfriends since I've last been here.
this time, It's just to alleviate some worries my girlfriend has about her cycle.
her last period was around november 10-11, and she came home for thanksgiving weekend.
that saturday, hawt secks ensued (I'm trying to lighten the mood sweatdrop )I used condom, when pulling out,it came off once, I switched to a fresh one, and she's on the pill, but she's still worried, and this is for her.
it is now Dec 9th, and she says she's slightly worried. she says her breasts hurt occasionally ( as if they're being pulled, it's like a twinge, not really sore/tenderness, since they've gotten bigger lately, so I'm unsure of that symptom) and she's been urinating alot lately.
now, being rational, I asked about any other symptoms, and she has none at all.
her next period is due in about a week, and she wants to go tomorrow to get a pregnancy test.
so I'm wondering: 1. would a test (blood test from her health dept) be accurate at this point in time or should we wait for a missed period?
2. given that she is on the pill, has never missed a day, and I used a condom and a brand new one when the first came off, is it very likely that she's pregnant? Given past experiences, I doubt it, her R.A. doubts it, and several of our friends do as well
3. is it even rational to be wigging out at this point? she's very stressed with this and finals coming up, and I'm trying to at the very least calm her down until the end of finals.

1. Home pregnancy tests aren't usually accurate until after a missed period. I think blood tests can detect pregnancy earlier than that, but I don't know exactly how early. She could call them and ask before she goes in though.
2. The pill is about 98% effective all its own. So if she's never missed a pill and if she takes it at the same time every day, it's very unlikely that she's pregnant.
3. If her last period was around November 10th or 11th, then she should be due for her next period pretty soon now. But if she's not really late right now, why worry?
She has some breast issues, but most women experience some sensitivity or soreness before their period. It's possible that's what she's feeling. Or maybe she's having that feeling due to the hormones in her birth control pills.
And she's urinating a lot, but that can be the result of so many things (urinary tract infection, drinking a lot of soda, stress, etc.)
So based on what you wrote here, I really don't see a reason to worry that much. If she doesn't have her period in a week or two, then she could take a pregnancy test.
I understand someone not wanting to get pregnant, and I think it's great that you two are being safe. But at the same time, if she's going to worry this much about a possible pregnancy, it does make me wonder if she is truly ready for sex at this point in her life. Being ready for sex means being careful, knowing that the risk of pregnancy is there, and having a plan for what to do in case of accidental pregnancy. So if she worries this much, it sounds like either she's not ready for the risks and responsibilities that come with sex or that you two haven't really talked about it and settled on a "what if" plan. So I'd recommend talking to her about it. Talk about what you two would do if an accident did happen; have a plan. If she still worries this much even with a plan in place, then you two will have to decide whether sex and the responsibilities that come with it are right for her at this point in her life.
