The Glimpse
Wahoo Silverberg, Happy Nohar, Shelly Chefherd, Barbie Malters and Eliza Hasselneck sat in a line around the wooden desk of the set of their television show, The Glimpse. For the most part, the show was a loving atmosphere...until they began to speak - especially Eliza. Every word that came out of her mouth seemed to anger the rest of the women so much that a giant fight of words would erupt. But, they all made a pact that when they have guests on the show, they will try to keep it down. This morning they had Riley Daima as a guest, most recognizably seen in Stars and Starletts over a month back with Zip Afron. And the audience just loved it when Zip Afron was talked about. "As our first guest for the day, please welcome dancer Riley Daima," said Wahoo with a happy smile as a welcoming applause began.

Riley took a deep breath in and let it out slowly as Wahoo announced her onstage. She let it out slowly and smiled, before gingerly walking across the floor. She wore a smart little black dress with a modish white collar and boots that came up to her calfs. Her hair had been styled into ringlet curls, then pulled up into a pony tail, so her hair bounced as she walked. The young woman could help but feeling a little giddy. She had watched Wahoo's movies when she was little, and so to see her in person was very exciting for her. She had heard of the other women, but she was thrilled to be invited here just to be in the same room as Wahoo.

She took a seat next to the group of woman and nodded. "Hi there!" she said, laughing a little. "Thanks for having me on!"

"Welcome Riley," Wahoo said with a tiny smile, peering at the young girl through her glasses. "How are you?"
"Its a pleasure," Barbie added.
"Hello," Happy chimed in. Shelly just smiled at her. Eliza sneered. "So Riley," Happy leaned forward in her seat and rested her face in her hand in a very girlish way before gushing, "What was it like to dance with Zip Afron on Stars and Starletts?"
The audience went wild with a combination of swoons, applause, cheers and laughter. The other women at the table laughed a bit, some more loudly than others - except for Eliza, who continued to sneer at Riley. When she realized she was the only one not laughing, she chimed in with a very fake laughter that killed the mood, bringing the whole room to a silence.

"Oh, I'm great, thanks! It's really great to meet all of you." Riley grinned and waited until the cheering and clapping died down to answer. She was a bit taken back when it abruptly stopped, but her smile didn't faulter.

"What was it like? Oh, it was just amazing," she had learned that people want to hear that their dream boy was the best and that they had no flaws. Even though he had been a little annoying at the time, and she had been told to let him in the spotlight, she never lied about his talent. "I didn't really think it would go over well, but he's a wonderful dancer, he knows what he's doing. I had alot of fun working with him."

"Did he flirt with you?" Happy asked, still gushing a bit at the thought of him. "Did you grab his butt? I would have grabbed his butt." The entire audience and the table laughed - aside from Eliza. This time she didn't even fake it.
"Now ladies, don't pry so much," Barbie said, just to sound professional. She actually was quite curious herself.
"Oh its fine," Wahoo insisted. Shelly nodded. She didn't like to speak much, which always confuse her and everyone else why she was hired for the show.
"I read about him you know," Eliza finally spoke, with a bit of a harsh tone. "I read online that he's gay. Is he gay, Riley? I read that online. He's very feminine too, from what I've read." She said this with a series of nods as if to assure everyone that what she read was true. Sure, she did read it online, and as far as she is concerned, anything posted on the internet is a valid source. The entire table groaned a bit, though deep down they were all a bit curious to Riley's answer as well.

Riley couldn't help but laugh a little at their questions. She shook her head. "No, no, he didn't flirt with me. At least, not that I noticed. He was very professional."

They were all asking stuff, and she wondered if there really was a right answer. One would make Zip look bad, and she didn't want to do that, and other answers could make her look bad. "Did I..." she blushed a little. "Oh, no!" she tried to think fast. "At least, not on purpose," she added, winking coyly.

"Gay? No, I don't think so. I mean, I suppose he was very thourough about his grooming, but really, anyone that good looking would have to have a long regime, wouldn't they?" She smiled. "Because if he didn't, he wouldn't look half so good as he does."

The women of the table laughed conversationally, except for Eliza once again. "Well I still think he's gay, I read that online," she insisted with another series of tiny quick nods. The rest of the women gave her a strange look. Her nods were so short and rapid they weren't sure if she really was nodding or twitching. "I don't get why you would come on the show and lie when I have the facts right here." She pulled out a few sheets of papers she had printed out that claim that he is gay.
"Eliza, she said she doesn't think so," Wahoo interjected. "Let it go girl."
"No," Eliza snapped. "I won't let it go. Don't tell me to let it go."
"Let it go," Barbie chimed in. Shelly nodded.
"Fine. We'll get back to it later," Eliza said with a sneer.
"You've recently appeared a commercial, have you not?" asked Barbie, though she already knew the answer. "For the popular video game Planet of Gorecraft. What was that like?" Eliza opened her mouth to interject a complaint, but was kicked under the table by Barbie so she kept her mouth shut - for now.

Riley had only watched a few episodes of 'The Glimpse' before she had come on today, and so the argument seemed standard. Still, it made her a bit uneasy. She shifted in her chair, smiled and shrugged at Eliza.

"Oh, well, I mean. If you have facts, then who am I to say it's not true?" she asked. It wasn't a shot at the woman, Riley was a pretty bad judge of character. "I guess he's just so hot, I want to think he's not gay, you know?" It was such a lie, and she didn't know why she wanted to please everyone, but it was almost a challenge to get her to like her.

She snapped her attention to Barbie, dropping the subject, as it seemed the rest wanted to. "The commercial was lots of fun. I got to reconnect with another friend from the Stars and Starlets show and the director was really great to work with, he brought out the best in my dancing." She crossed her ankles under the chair. "They even gave me a free month trial, and I've started to play it. It was very...interesting."

"Interesting you say?" Eliza blurted. "And what about violent and unsafe for children to play? Its a game that is known for how dangerously addicting it is an its all violent fighting. Its totally unsafe for---"
"Will you shut the hell up girl?" interrupted Wahoo.
"You are such a pain in the a** Eliza," Happy shouted, getting up from her seat.
"Cool it," Barbie said to a table of deaf ears.
"I take offense to that," Eliza snapped, rising in her seat.
"Good," jumped in Shelly as the audience gasped in shock that she actually spoke.
"Ladies, ladies," Barbie said, attempting to cool them off. There was a brief pause, but they continued on as if nothing had even happened. "Do you have any other gigs or projects in the works, Riley?"

Riley watched in fasination. It was almost like...watching a train wreck. You didn't WANT to watch, but sometimes, you just couldn't look away. She wondered briefly if she was supposed to be, or even allowed, to hop into the argument. She had watched quite a few of the kids in the hospital back home play video games and it was the closest thing some of them would come to physical activity...well, ever and she never begrudged them that, even if they were a little violent.

"Well, I recently auditioned for CDE's new workout dvd. It'll have a few faces from the Stars and Starlets show, as well as a couple of the trainers we worked with while preparing for it."

"Oh I'll have to buy myself that DVD," Happy laughed, teasing herself about her own weight.
"I'll be buying it with you," Wahoo joined in as Shelly nodded and laughed with Barbie.
"I think its horrible," Eliza spat. "Why do people need to work out and stay fit? The media is so hard on people, especially women, to lose weight all the time and be thin little people who---"
"Honestly will you ever shut the up you little ? Miss 'The Only Reason I Am Famous is Because I Was on a Reality Show' who works so hard to be the blonde and beautiful thin that you are, just shut the up you ," Wahoo spat. The audience gasped at first, but for the rest of her rant they all stayed quiet in absolute shock. Nobody at the table moved. Simple dead silence as Wahoo recomposed herself.

Riley's jaw dropped and she could feel a blush so deep it made her ears tingle.

"I...um..." she cleared her throat and frowned, more than a little annoyed. "I don't see what's wrong with making, being in or buying a workout dvd. There's absolutly nothing wrong with staying in shape, and this one is to promote healthy living, like most are, and having fun while doing it, because crunches are simply not that fun." She wrinkled her nose. "You know that your country is one of the biggest in the world? No offense and all, but maybe if you stopped attacking people who aren't trying to make you conform to some deranged standard of beauty, but are only trying to help you be live a more healthy life, you'd be much better off."

She huffed a little at the end, then wondered briefly how badly she had just stuck her foot in her mouth.

The audience applauded after Riley spoke and the rest of the table cheered her on, except for Eliza, of course.
"Well I think that---"
"Oh just shut up Eliza," Barbie cut in. She wasn't one to normally be rude, but she was sick and tired of hearing Eliza speak her opinion all the damn time. It was becoming more and more of a hassle just to be on the show with the woman.
"Do not interrupt me," Eliza spat.
"Oh, shove it," Barbara retorted. "Thank you very much for coming on the show Riley, it has been a pleasure and we all apologize that things may have gotten a little bit out of hand. But we're all friends, we all love each other at this table and---"
"I don't feel loved," Eliza interjected.
"I said shut up woman," Barbie snapped. "Thank you again Riley, for coming on. We'll be back with more of the Glimpse after the commercial break." The audience applause sign turned on as the cameras went off air, but the audience hardly applauded. They were too shocked.
"Really, thank you so much for coming on," Wahoo whispered. "About time someone taught that b***h a lesson."
"I heard that."
