Hey guys, and welcome to the Guild! I know things are slow right now, and getting into the real story is hard. But, we don't want you to be discouraged! Here, I'm going to try and get some ideas down that will help you not only get your characters more involved and focused, but to get you making new friends for an even better reason to be active in the Guild.
First, we really don't have a lot of people. Even the names in the roster may not be of those who are active. We've sent out letters to everyone, asking who's active and who's not, and will be banning (sadly) those who don't reply. But, no worries to people who are already in the swing of things, right? Maybe you have some friends who are great RPers, and need a place to come. Bring them in! Just make sure they follow all the rules, and they'll be fine.
Secondly, we look at characters having goals within the story. Even if it's just for a group of people to have a trip to Moliné for a bit of lunch, it's great to see people collaborating and developing their characters.
The way we do this is by talking -le gasp- to each other outside of the RP. I know when my characters are interacting with others, I'm always talking to the controlling person to see what we could do, where we could go, what we might want to happen in the long run for our characters. Heck, planning out romances has been an excellent way for me to ensure a partner. Not saying it's the best way, but making sure you have a partner or two really helps. I've made excellent friends this way, and I'd love to see people in here become just as close.
So, basically, get talking! We have an OOC forum for chit chat. Use it for plans, PM each other, become friends! It makes things so much easier, believe me.
Happy RPing!
