The book The Stranger, by Albert Camus was good. It had action and jail time. What was totally awesome is the fact that his name is Mersault and he is a total recluse in personality. I hope you read this book so we can be book pals. We could keep up on the Jones' and totally beat them in knowledge. Yesterday my cat fell off the couch and I picked it up with a shovel. Sometimes I dream of candy canes. Anyways! The Stranger is one of the most best works I have ever Sparknoted. Love, XOXO, Brittney.

And that's just the introooo. :`)
Is it good enough?

Critique me please, this counts for half of my senior grade.

This is my real one. :'D Critique?

"As if that blind rage had washed me clean, rid me of hope; for the first time, in that night alive with signs and stars, I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world" (Camus 122). The Stranger by Albert Camus is one of the greatest existential works published in the 20th century. This novel revolves around Mersault, a man so indifferent with the world, he seems to propel everyone else away. His beliefs and callous outlook on life affect how the other characters feel in the presence of Mersault. Moreover, in the end, his nonpartisan views of life and a higher meaning, end up with his death. Consequently, the antagonist, Raymond Sintes, was the catalyst to push all of the events forward. Without his motivation to force Mersault to become interpolated with his quarrels, Mersault would be a free man. Following this further, the setting is also incredibly important to the events that transpired during the course of this book. Lacking the heat of the country of Algiers, and the politics, the events would not be played out in the same way. Overall, this novel is considered good literature and is one of the most pivotal novels in Camus' career.

Critique this one, please. :`D

Wow..
I like the second one.
Really good.
It explains a lot,
Like what the book is about,
And why it's really good.
=]

I could never write an essay intro that good.
XP
Well,
I suck at writing essays.
Lol.

Hmmm! I like what I see with the second one!

Let's see, I think it would be wise to mention his [the main character's] death and the cause of his death in the same sentence. "His non-partisan views..." sound just a teensy bit vague.

Also the setting, could you go into just a little more detail with that? I'm actually rather curious to where this takes place and I'm certain the one grading you on this will be as well.

And when you give the first description of Mersault, how he's indifferent to the point that he pushes everyone away, perhaps you could define who is everyone. Are you talking about his friends and family, or colleagues, or is it in fact, everyone in the world?

Last thing, "This novel is considered good literature..." who's standards is it considered good by? Is that part your opinion, or that of some national book review? (Plus, perhaps you could use a stronger word than good? Or perhaps it is just pleasant and not exemplary?)

(Bah. I'm terrible at reviewing things. I probably don't even know what I'm talking about.)

Save that, I think this is fine work. I loved the fact that you quoted the book itself in the beginning. And such nice fluid sentences too! If the rest of the essay is just as intriguing and well formed as this introduction, then I think high 90's will be your grade! razz

Thanks for the critique, but I kind of have to go with my primary thing. I am writing a 30 page paper which covers all of these topics, and I just have to give a glimpse of what I am writing about, and not going into detail. (Because it will be focused on in subsequent papers).

I guess I should have explained that before. hah.

Thanks though. Now I know what to focus on in my main part of my paper.
