My parents had this party on Sunday for a football game. So a lot of junk food was bought. I hate when a party is over you still have all this food. So I am finding myself eating cakes, brownies, those goldfish things, chips, and anything you can think of. I want my Mom to throw it away but, she is yelling at me that she wants to keep it so I learn self control. Erm..I'm trying, but it's hard. So what should I do to hold back? sweatdrop

For starters, avoid distractions and unconcious eating. If you pay attention while your eating instead of reflexively snacking, you'll be less likely to overeat, and you'll be able to enjoy the flavor better.
As for your mom, she means well, but she really is being too unkind on the eating and fat issue and is overstepping her parental control. Look forward to college.

Well that doesn't sound like a very good way to go about learning self control. neutral
When I want to hold back, I put everything out of sight.
That doesn't work for everyone.. but maybe you could try it?
My parents are awful about buying sweets.. they buy them all the time! So I will just take the sweets and put them in cupboards that I don't rummage through, or hide them in the back of the fridge or freezer. I forget they're there, so I don't eat them.

If you can leave the house during the afternoon after school that helps. Avoid the area that the food is in. That helps me. Granted I know you prolly don't want to do that every day. Try grabbing just a handful and not taking the full container. Most of the time I'm too lazy to get back up fot 2nds sweatdrop

Yeah. pay attention to what you eat is the great idea. whenever i try to keep myself from eating, i stay away from the kitchen period. i make up for it by carrying a bottle of water around with me everywhere, or if im going to be in the house all day and my mom allows it, i just carry a jug of water around with my name on it, and every time i get the urge to eat, i take a huge swig. there have been studies that show that more often than not people mistake thirst for hunger, and eat when they should be drinking. if you get near the kitchen and have that urge to eat something, ask yourself if your really hungry, or try drinknig a cup of water or something before you eat. wait a couple minutes, and if you still want to eat, go for it.

[3] Forget the snackfoods.. I have trouble staying out of the alcohol. We recently had a party as well, and half of the drinks left in the fridge I've already gone through. Yay for grenidene and jack daniels.
Anywho, if you really don't want to eat these things, start looking them up. I scared myself off of snackfoods forever with some of the stuff I read about them. Scary scary food. Yay for natural. |s|h|a|r|p|i|e|

Just try to pay attention to what you eat. If you have to put aside a set amount of snacks you want to eat. What always helps for me. when i want to just snack on food is to eat fruit as a snack instead of chips, cookies, etc. Replace the bad junk food with good snacking food. After a while you can have A little bit of crackers. about a hand full
