Das Steube "Yes, but I was hoping that my exposure would wait for a less... Trying time. Futile hope, as it were, but one can have it. The Kore is getting more bold. I would advise you to watch your back twice as much. However, is there anything further you need?" She regarded him for a moment before answering. "Tell your wife who I am, give your daughter my regards, and see if you can contact Syx. She's one of Ruby and Arch's descendants, from a set of septuplets. She was on the Gilgamesh with us, a marshal, but I'm not sure where she disappeared to after that. Looks a lot like her sister, Tu, who's still on Thesys, I believe. Tu's a lot easier to find."

Xeen nodded. "Contact me if I am needed again. I will be in touch." He replied before vanishing back to Thesys.

Cassandra started to sigh after his departure, but her breath caught. Suddenly, that girl came to mind again, the one who'd been entrusted...
She shook her head and forced herself to breathe again. It was over, for now. Whatever had happened to the child, whatever had gone so wrong, the sword wasn't with her. It would be okay; they only had one planet to search for it again. There were more important things to worry about right now, with the Kore acting up and Haldis loose to her own devices (presumably).
Still, the gray woman felt an old and familiar chill as the girl came to mind. She was reluctant to ignore it. Centuries ago, when visions of the future had been inescapable and frequent, before the power had faded into something else, she had learned to fear and dread that chill. It was the chill of pending doom. It was the chill of something gone horribly wrong, and about to climax.
Cassandra settled into a chair with ice in her veins. First the Butterfly, now this...

Cassandra had standing orders that anything regarding Haldis or the stone would be directed to her immediately, no matter where she was or what else was going on around her.
"ACE 101--704 message, code Hally. Matron received a message from Witch, Witch and Matron have the name, Copper has the location. Copper still reported dead, now missing via White Influence on Earth. Copper-Coded still secure."
In space, Cassandra swore.

A second message followed not too long after. A Kore ship had been found, dead in space. Inside of it was Lankin's body, as well as the bodies of a Kore crew. They had all been dead for at least a year.
The Kore did not have control of the stone, the stone had control of the Kore.

Cassandra did not stop swearing for several minutes, even as she established orbital and landing codes with a planet on the way to Thesys. The game was on without her, pieces being cleared, and she was going the wrong direction!
Her mind warred with her soul, fighting over which was the greater goal.
By the time she laid down to sleep, she was only unsettled and exhausted from it.
