I'm about to meet up with local lolitas for the first time. They also make their own clothes and they are good at it. I'm thinking of telling them where I got my super cute bunny fabric from if they like it. So this makes me wonder, if they make lolita clothes out of the same print as me, would that be cool (common sense of taste, twinning) or a bit strange? What are your thoughts/experiences with this?

Well, speaking that unless you designed and printed the fabric yourself for yourself, chances are you might run into someone with the same fabric. The print on your fabric isn't really commonly seen, but with other fabrics you can purchase, i.e. some music or card prints that are commonly used, there would probably be a higher chance of someone choosing that fabric.
In any case, we can't really tell you what will be cool or awkward to you. xD

I personally wouldn't mind if another lolita had used the same fabric as me, it's hard to find really cute fabrics where I'm from, so its quite possible that someone will find the same fabric.

Cool smile All your responses make me feel better about sharing smile
There are only two other lolitas in my city who are on my country's lolita livejournal site. This is even though my city is the largest in the country, with 1.3 million people. So I definitely feel special when I get dressed up smile
It is hard to find cute fabrics where I'm from too, so it is nice to share sources. I agree that lolita twins are cute too!
I've never come across someone with the same fabric as me in something I have made myself, so I appreciate all your thoughts and comments smile

It happens - even here where there are a bunch of different smaller brands that people buy from rather than just a few places like many overseas lolita.
But it tends to be more mixed here. As in, each person adding their own touch to the jsk, skirt, ect to make it different for their style. For example: I've seen the same BTSSB jsk 2-3 times in one day in harajuku, but all have a different flow/style because the person added some broaches, added fabric or other random accessories.
I guess it would be a lot more similar in america or europe then? I tend to notice people are much simpler looking in pictures... by that I mean they tend to buy an outfit from a brand name and not add much to the already near complete to make it original/more suited to them - or they just wear like a white blouse with a brand skirt, ect. Not saying its wrong, just that i've noticed that overseas lolita tend to... not add much to the outfits.
haha whoo kinda getting a little off topic... gonk

Thanks Yuki-Neko! It is always interesting to hear your perspective.
I think you're right about Western lolitas going for simpler looks. And I think there is a big emphasis on everything matching, which probably stifles creativity.
I would like to see more pictures of Japanese lolitas, but where do I go to see them? I'd like to see how they change the look of their store-bought clothes. At the moment I am just in lots of Western lolita livejournal communities, so I just see lots of Western lolita style.
I think if another lolita does compliment my fabric, I will tell him/her where I bought it. After all, they might choose to make a different style from me, or at least wear it differently with their own sense of style and co-ordination.

Though it's never happened to me, I think it wold be wonderful to find another lolita with the same print!
In my opinion it would show what good taste we both have! And it would give us a common bond and we could feel more like sisters! Sometimes I am super shy around other loli girls so it would also help me to talk to her by breaking the ice a little bit.
