I'm guessing that most of you have heard about this: Smurfs get bombed

I find this ridiculous. I thought it was UNICEF's job to raise funds for needy children, not to take sides politically and start touting anti-war slogans. The UN continues to go further and further down the drain.

But why did they use the Smurfs? I just laughed at this when I first heard it because I couldn't help it. It just sounds funny, the smurfs getting blown to hell. But we're supposed to take it seriously because of the children.

I commented on this in the ED-P forums and I was ridiculed by one person, who basically said that it should be their job to try and prevent war. Why I go to the ED-P forums still is beyond me...

Aye, when logic and reason fail, scare them lil kiddies...

There needs to be a counter campaign that shows all the dead kids in Belgium if it weren't for that lil armed comflict about 60 years ago.

I would never hand that sort of image to a child. If you want to show them that violence from was is terrible, show them real pictures. Cartooning it up just makes it make believe again.

This seems to me to be aimed at inciting contreversy among adults, not merely informing children. But I suppose thats the role of the media nowadays..

Really, it's not like I like the smurfs or anything... However, I think it odd that they would use the smurfs.

I agree, in that we should the children actual pictures, or just what is going on. Really, with a pencil, and some crayons, you can create almost anything.
