It seems Archie is doing something new again. rolleyes
It appeared that their Sonic X comic was bust, so they are starting a new series. It is called Sonic Universe.

After issue #200 of the main Sonic the Hedgehog comic, which they are probly ending it in that issue, this new one will sort of take it's place.
A fusing of all Sonic related material will be use to make this. Stuff from the games and T.V. series to make an accurate canon comic.
I have a bad feeling about this, that this comic might become a plot hole and Deus Ex Machina filled mess.
I would like to know what you guys think of this new experiment that Archie is doing.

Yeah I've heard that, I'm actually looking forward to that... but I didn't know that Archie's Sonic X series was a bust.

I don't know if I really like this...From what it sounds like, the main comic is going to continue into this new series; am I reading this right?
I know the whole "all things must come to an end" thing, but I'd hate this to be the finale of the comic as we know it. :/
And if Universe is meant to fuse the comics and the games, it wouldn't be anything new, although the adaptations have felt extremely forced at times (looking at you, Sonic Adventure).
I guess I'm gonna just be on the whole "wait and see" opinion.
As for the Sonic X comic, it's not like anyone'll be missing anything. I was so disappointed that that particular series didn't rise above the anime (just more of the same empty calories).

I'm not sure either that they are going to just end the main one, that they have been working hard on for 15+ years, just to make this new series, Sea-salt.
It does worry me a bit that they would be so foolish to take such a risk. What happens if they blend the two into one and then it fails?
How are the long time fans are going to feel when their favorite comic has gone out of print because of lousy management.
I don't really like Flynn's writing. He's a good writer, but he's not good enough to really make the comic stick out again. The comic needs someone better than him to really make it florish.
He has a nasty nack for over using Deus Ex Machinas when he had written himself into a hole. stare

It doesn't look like Sonic Universe is going to be a replacement for the regular series, but rather a sort of supplement.
Sonic Universe, as I understand it, is intended to tie all the different Sonic universes/canons together and make them coherent.
Also, I think it will be the place for stories that do not focus on Sonic and characters immediately surrounding him.
There are so many characters now in the Archieverse that introducing now important characters from the games like Cream would be difficult.
With Sonic Universe, the huge cast can be focused on without fear of neglecting Sonic himself.

Good luck to them with *that* one! Talk about your monumental tasks.... Still, if it works, good for them. Anyone here read them? What do you think? I'm in UKland, so haven't a clue what's going on in the comic world. DW

Nah, I think they've been on the right track with that for a while.
Probably what they'll do with Sonic Universe is establish a multiverse that includes all other Sonic worlds.
