Hair cutting is a sin, shaving is sin, having a period is a sin, lying is a sin.

The thing about Christanity, it's not about what most preachers tell you it is. It's about forgiveness and understanding, not giving money and sin.

I agree, It really seems that a lot of preachers (especially the ones on tv) just want to spread their own agenda.

Basically: "We'll just say 'God said don't do it.'"

Preachers are still very manipulative. Like all the ones with the "God Hates Fags." signs are doing it because a preacher told them so. Even now, I think my preacher is trying to work this whole "Obama is the anti-christ." thing. I started going to church so that I wouldn't be so confused about life...and I'm sorry to say that I'm worse as of right now.

People still need to get that the Bible, and the Koran, etc. Were still written by men...HUMANS! It's supposed to guide you in morality. By living we are still servants of God. WE ARE FLAWED! Plain and simple. We will stay that way until the end. Also that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE with a religion is selective about it.

Even me, I'm still no hardcore creationist. I like things like Cavemen, Dinosaurs, Modern Medicine, Aliens!

yeah, they don't believe in aliens...all the planets in the skies. Billions of solar systems. And they would rather believe it's just us out here...nah. I feel like the only one that thinks that it would really extend my belief that God exists. But I'm weird.

They also don't like masturbation...and well....you KNOW how I feel about that... 3nodding

It's an outline, not a law. You must find your own view of religion, and not just accept someone else's with out understanding it. You have to form your own beliefs, your morality, your own meaning.

Strange how you would say that...I'm saying that because the last time I went to a service. It was about how were not supposed to do things like that. I don't know what he was going on after that.

It's weird, even though preachers always go on about how we're only supposed to go with "our own kind", I find other religious people ruin it for me.

If people just followed and never questioned, we'd be worshiping Zeus. Hell, there'd only be Catholicism in terms of Christianity. No Protestant, no Baptist, nothing else. If God didn't want us to question things, he wouldn't have given us free will.

Agreed. These hardcore creationist get me a little miffed too. Even though there are different levels of them. The worst of the worst believe that if you are sick, it's because God wants you sick....

So...My brother Armando, a cancer survivor, who thanked God after surviving. Is not supposed to get help because it doesn't go with their medical plan...PRAYER!

yeah just prayer.

So if God gives you polio, God doesn't want you to walk? Then why do those people vaccinate their children? Why do they go to hospitals?
PostPosted: Fri Dec 04, 2009 12:27 am

They probably don't even do THAT! Or probably convince themselves that since this is GAWDS CHILD that he will allow just this one.

God doesn't want you to got to a hospital, he wants you to walk off that cancer. No kemo for me thank you! Your leg missing? Then rub some dirt in it, that's what Adam would have done!

ROBITUSSIN!

you see how ridiculous this all sounds then. A bunch of those peeps really protested that injection offered to teenage girls to protect them from cervical cancer. I forget why at this time...

Also my pastor is now going on about consumerism, It made me question whether or not my video game collection interferes with my relationship with God. It made me question whether or not we ever need to buy things again?

Jesus was a carpenter, he carved and sold things. The apostles were mostly fishermen, the sold fish. We need to buy and sell things for our economy to survive. Video games don't keep you from being close to God, in a way it's a form of expression. It shows your dedication, skills, and experience, your talents at that them. They are outlets for your emotions, if you can find such joy and depth from it, why would god want you to stop expressing it? In this world, we can't get anything with out money. You need to buy food, water, and shelter, three things you need. And you can't barter, unless you live in some sort of commune. Think of this, if he's against the exchange of money, why does the church need money?
PostPosted: Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:37 pm

I was thinking the same thing about money. Though we can't get nothing without it. We can't let it control us and enslave us. Like you know, the rappers do...

He was talking about more about when a person considers him/herself more happy simply because of the items that person has. I would not have felt so confused if it wasn't for the fact that he called out gamers in his sermon.

"I'm not a consumerist because I don't have every PS3 or 360 game. YOU ARE DELUDING YOURSELF!" or something similar to that.

I did think of that too, I remember a whole sermon about how we should give to HIS church...the sacrificial amount that God asked for. I felt a little...like myself when he asked that we cut out the money for one of our bills to give to that church........But all these people seem to have no problem with it. So I can't say anything.

It's not being happy because you have it, it's enjoying it from using it. If you are happy because you have more games than most, that's probably wrong. But if your happy because you play that game, that's something else. Buying something and never actually using it is bad, but actually using it and enjoying it is something different. Say there are two gamers, one is rich, they are the kids that had everything on their list to Santa. He gets all the big games, no matter if he likes them, all on mom and dad's dollar, he doesn't finish those games, he clocks maybe 10 hours on each one. He only plays until he has to try or until he loses interest, then brags about how many he has. The other is the real gamer, they can't get games when they come out, he gets used games and waits until it's marked down. Rarely do they get it fresh or a system right away, because they don't get games every day, they save, they might get one for Christmas or a birthday. But when they get it, they play the s**t out of it, they beat that sucker, multiple times. They play it a lot once they get it, and they still play it years later. They play basically all their games every so often. I know you are one of the second type, and you have nothing to be ashamed of, you use what you have. You enjoy those games, you have a right to, because you don't take them for granted.

He never preached about the dirty poor man. My preacher liked this one, this dirty old man came to church every Sunday, never sitting with anyone, always put two cents in the collection plate. One day, a guy asked him why he put two pennies in the plate. He said that he was broke, and didn't have much to give. He always put on his best clothes, but he walked a dusty road which got him really dirty. He couldn't afford a ride, much food, or much of anything else. But he gave what he could. It's not about sacrificing yourself, Jesus already did that, it's about giving if and when you are able. Does the priest give enough to the church, I mean he is a man of god, he should follow what he says. Does he give a bills worth of money? Of course he must just give back his pay from the church every Sunday, and they couldn't be just add superfluous things to the church, like say a new steeple? Cause god knows how important those are, can't have a church without a shiny new steeple.
