Hey! This is my first fanfic on Suikoden 2, one of the greatest games ever made. But this is my second fanfic on this site.
Oh, I plan to update once a week, and my next chapters should be a little longer!
Please post comments! If I don't get your opinion I won't know how you feel about it and I won't want to write any more. Plus I need some feedback on my writing style. Thank you very much!

XXXXXXXXXXXX Their Own Journey XXXXXXXXXXXX
A Suikoden 2 fanfic
By RedHeero
Chapter1
It was finally over. This was that had separated three friends had finally ended. A war that had drawn them in, had separated them, had almost killed them. As the three looked from atop the hill at the last site of their own battlefield, their only possessions on their backs, they turned and crossed the bridge that would lead to their future. The one in the lead was a strong young lad whose eyes had seen their more than their share of battle and death for the age of fifteen. His brown eyes gleamed with joy at the reunion of his companions. The half circlet on his head held together his black hair, as it flew into his angular face. His red tunic and black pants flowed in the wind as his tonfas lay on his belt at his side. The heavy yellow backpack he wore didn’t bother him as he trudged along wondering what he and his friends would see. Just behind him was his adoptive sister of the age of sixteen whistled happily as she trudged behind him. Her tomboyish exterior smiled as she subconsciously ran her hand through her short brown hair with a bight pink ribbon holding it together. Her pink tunic and green pants glistened in the sun as her wood and chain weapon bounced on her back. She looked happily between her two companions soaking in the delight of seeing them with her like this. The boy behind her had a harder face then the others. He had seen and inflicted more death then the others and it weighed heavy on his soul. But despite that he had a mildly cheerful exposition to see his long time friend and rival like this again. The joy the girl radiated lightened his gloomy heart as they had first set out on this expedition. His long blond hair flapped in the wind along with his blue tunic and white pants. A blue pole on his back often hindered the wave of his hair as he walked behind his friends. It was almost hard to believe that any of this was happening to them. The war that had just ended had driven the two boys to opposite sides in the war. They had even almost killed one another with their own hands. The girl had nearly died protecting both of them and had fled from them. But now those titles, those enemies were broken with the bonds of their friendship and their love for one another. Now they had left everything behind for only this adventure that awaited. One had left his wife, one her homeland, and the other a position of respect and power. All for only each other and neither regretted it. This bridge, the last place till they left the land that once was their home, rocked in the wind as they reached the other side. They didn’t look back as they headed towards a new destiny where the tides of fate that had bonded them vanished, and the only the joy of uncertainty to guide them. A fate they gladly excepted.

Chapter 2
They sat around a campfire that night and looked into the endless sky above. The girl turned to the boy in red, her adoptive brother and spoke to him, “So Red, where do you think we should head now, the Grasslands perhaps?” Red turned from tending the fire to his sister, “I don’t know Nanami,” he put his arms around him and got into a thinking position, “I haven’t really figured it out yet. Well we can’t go to Tinto, the Toran republic, or back to Highland or the City States, er, I mean the country of Dragon. I guess the Grasslands or maybe those islands would be out best bet.” Nanami turned to the fire and in a sarcastic voice spoke to her companions, “Well you two just had to get yourselves famous so everyone that sees you around here would recognize you. I kinda liked the Toran republic.” Red put his hand to his head and said apologetically, “Sorry Nanami, but it really wasn’t my fault you know. I had to help.” Nanami turned back to him and stuck out her tongue to him, “Naaaah! I’m just kidding with you Red. I understand. But now we still have to figure out where we’re heading.” The boy in blue had had been quiet through their conversation spoke up, “Lets go to the western half of the Grasslands, not the eastern.” Nanami looked at him for a moment, “Oh yeah, you know that one tribe in the grasslands Jowy. Sorry, I forgot.” Jowy simply shrugged, “The Grasslands are a large place. We shouldn’t rule it out just because of that. Besides the mountains are that way. We could just head through and go that way.” Nanami jumped up in excitement, “Then its settled. To the Grasslands.” Red smiled at the comics of his sister. Not even four days ago he had thought her dead so her acting normal like this felt like the best medicine for him. Jowy and him were not the same as they had been a year ago but it was far better than the alternative of being enemies. This journey was a good healing for him. Even in his young age he had been put through staining circumstances and it had taken its toll on him. He watched as Nanami went around making their meal on the fire and poking Jowy once in a while. Red figured it was her way of reassuring herself that he was still there and not a dream. Though Nanami looked like she always had the war had taken its toll on her as well. The battle between himself and Jowy had caused Nanami great pain and his own participation in the war had as well. Her wound from the time she had faked her death had not fully healed just yet and was apparent when they way she carried herself. But Nanami would never admit to any of it. She’d always just pull her eyelid, stick out her tongue, and claim that she was kidding. As the eldest in the group she had always felt that it was her job to look after the others. Red looked down at his right hand. A brown glove was now covering a great rune that he had used in the war. Jowy to had a similar glove and rune, one of the 27 ‘True Runes’ the rune of beginning. Red wondered now that his destiny had been fulfilled what would happen to its power, what he would do with that power. He mused that he couldn’t use it anymore. Many, many people knew him by that rune on his hand, as well as Jowy. The last thing he wanted was someone trying to take him away from the only peace he had, had in a long time. Nanami walked over to him with a small plate of food, “Eat up Red. You may have been leader of the Dragon army, but your still a growing boy!” Red accepted the plate with thanks and ate along with his companions. Jowy remained mostly silent as Nanami tried to fill the silence with any worthless banter she could. She occasionally had to hit Red or Jowy to get them to respond to her but neither of them really minded. They soon went to sleep as the slightly chily fall night bade them to sleep.
