Because when SE released FFVII in Japan, when they spelled it in english it was Aerith. Therefore the original name was actually 'Aerith', but when they released it in the U.S, the translators took her name from the Japanese pronunciation, 'Earisu'. Changing her name from Aerith to Aeris. sweatdrop in KH they decided to do right in the US, and put her name back the way it was intended to be when SE made the game.

There were actually a lot of differences in name. Claud, Rufuse, Leno, Zeng, Ylena... And more.

Altana [ Rufus ] There were actually a lot of differences in name. Claud, Rufuse, Leno, Zeng, Ylena... And more. yeah....=_=; the translators really had a field day with names.... Not to mention, Zach, Zack, and Zax...and they STILL can't make up their minds!!

Aeris is horrible. I'm sure, as in my head I can hear it, that goofy calls aeris aeris in KH. Or is that what you meant? domokun
